About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Project Officer to join the team and contribute to the protection and conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage. Operating within the Flight Unit, this role is responsible for delivering end-to-end project outcomes and providing business administration support in a dynamic operational setting. You’ll plan and manage procurement and contract activities in line with NSW Government frameworks, while coordinating multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities.
This role involves providing high-quality project management support, including preparing reports and briefs, maintaining accurate project documentation, monitoring progress against milestones and ensuring effective resource coordination and business administration support in finance other administrative functions.
Working both independently and collaboratively, you will oversee day-to-day project delivery, support decision-making through research and analysis, and proactively identify risks and emerging issues. You’ll engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to facilitate communication, manage expectations and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard. In addition, you will support the business administration team in finance and other administrative work tasks.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisation, sound judgement and the ability to balance operational demands while contributing to continuous improvement and effective program delivery.
About You
You’re an experienced project professional who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment, bringing strong organisational skills, sound judgement and a proactive approach to delivery. You take ownership of your work, confidently setting priorities within agreed program parameters while independently determining the most effective way to manage competing demands and achieve outcomes.
With a solid background in project management, procurement, stakeholder engagement, business administration and you consistently deliver high-quality results, keeping projects on track and aligned to objectives. You communicate clearly and provide regular, structured updates to your manager, ensuring transparency of progress, risks and opportunities, while contributing to a collaborative and outcome-focused team culture.
