Job Description

Project Officer

Location – Parramatta (Hybrid)

Employment type – Temporary full-time role until 24 December 2027

Salary - $113,574.00 pa - $125,719.00 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

This role supports the planning and delivery of meaningful programs that improve environments for frontline teams and the communities they serve. Working within the Programs and Partnerships - Communities Directorate, the Project Officer plays a hands‑on role in translating ideas into practical outcomes - helping projects move from concept through to delivery with structure, clarity, and momentum.

This is a strong development opportunity for someone looking to build a career in project and program delivery. The role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, close mentoring from experienced Program Managers, and the chance to take ownership of defined workstreams and smaller projects while contributing to larger, high‑impact initiatives.

What you’ll do

The Project Officer supports the coordination and delivery of multiple projects at different stages of the project lifecycle. This includes assisting with planning and scheduling, maintaining project documentation, tracking milestones and risks, supporting financial and procurement activities, and preparing reports and briefs for internal governance and decision‑making.

The role also involves coordinating meetings and working groups, engaging with stakeholders, sourcing and analysing data, and helping ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to agreed quality standards. Over time, the role is expected to independently manage smaller, lower‑complexity projects, while continuing to support larger programs led by senior staff.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative, delivery‑focused team within Programs and Partnerships - Communities, working closely with Program Managers and other project professionals. The team values clear thinking, practical problem‑solving, and shared accountability for outcomes.

The working environment is supportive and structured, with clear frameworks in place but plenty of room to learn, ask questions, and grow. Team members are encouraged to take initiative, contribute ideas, and continuously improve how work is delivered. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are supported, alongside a strong emphasis on professional development and capability building.

What we’re looking for

We want you to be successful in your new role! The ideal candidate is organised, curious, and motivated to build a career in project or program delivery.

  • You may have prior experience supporting projects in the public or private sector and potentially have a background in office fit-outs.
  • You will bring strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a practical approach to problem‑solving.
  • Adept knowledge and appropriate application of project management principles, reporting, procurement, or financial tracking is highly regarded, as is experience preparing briefs and working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in project management, business, public administration, or a related field are desirable but not essential.

Above all, you will be reliable, detail‑oriented, and keen to learn from experienced practitioners while progressively taking on greater responsibility.
