Job Description

The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal is seeking a Project manager with statistical and lab skills, and a background in biomedical sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, or a related field. The candidate will play a crucial role in the management of several projects in imported malaria, dengue and other imported febrile illnesses, working in a multidisciplinary team. Specific tasks will include sample processing and storage, data management, documentation, statistical analysis, scientific writing and scientific coordination, including tracking project milestones, managing deadlines, and ensuring the successful, timely execution of project deliverables.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of different impactful scientific projects working closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, and engineers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project management and coordination of multicentre studies. Communication with sponsors and other participating sites, and supervision and signature of MTAs and contracts.

  • Internal communication and project management. Track, monitor, and manage projects milestones and strict deadlines.

  • Data management, data analysis and results discussion of different projects on imported febrile illnesses, vector-borne diseases and travel medicine.

  • Creation compelling visualizations and reports to communicate findings and insights.

  • Support on writing study protocols, project proposals and scientific articles.

  • Laboratory Work & Technical Support

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree and Master in biomedical sciences: medicine, pharmacology, biomedical sciences, biotechnology, neurosciences or microbiology or a related field.

  • Proficiency in statistical software such as STATA or R

  • Proven experience in scientific writing (scientific articles, study protocols and project proposals)

  • Exceptional organizational skills with a proven capacity to track project progress, follow up on team deliverables, and consistently meet strict deadlines.

  • Experience coordinating multicentre scientific projects.

  • Experience participating on malaria, vector-borne diseases or other infectious diseases projects.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong skills in sample processing, data organization, and laboratory maintenance.

LANGUAGE LEVEL

  • Proficiency in English and Spanish.

CONDITIONS

  • Contract: 12 months (part-time)

  • Salary: 30.656€ gross annual for full time position

  • Work-Life Balance: 36 days off per year (23 vacation days + 13 personal days)

  • Start date: 1st of July

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
