We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead complex water infrastructure projects across Tāmaki Makaurau. You’ll take ownership of end‑to‑end delivery on significant projects – from pump station and network upgrades through to major capacity improvements – with values typically ranging from $20m to $100m +.
You’ll spend your time between site, clients and the office, keeping a lot of moving parts aligned under real time and cost pressure. This is a chance to leave a visible legacy on long‑term, city‑shaping water projects, while building and growing a strong delivery team around you.
Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities
Lead full lifecycle delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
Coordinate design, construction and commissioning activities, managing complex interfaces with existing assets, live networks and other projects.
Build, coach and support a high performing project team, lifting capability and performance over time.
Partner closely with council and utility clients, consultants and subcontractors to keep programmes, budgets and quality on track.
Drive safety, environmental and community outcomes, ensuring works are planned and executed to high standards in live operational environments.
Provide accurate forecasting, reporting and risk management to the Construction Manager and wider leadership team.

10+ years’ experience delivering complex water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects.
A relevant engineering or construction‑related qualification (Washington Accord or equivalent is preferred), or equivalent project delivery experience.
Proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams on high‑value projects with multiple stakeholders and tight time / cost pressures.
Strong client‑facing skills – able to build trust, front difficult conversations and keep people aligned when things change.
A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for better ways to stage works, manage interfaces and lift team performance.
A people‑first approach to safety and wellbeing, with the confidence to stop, reset and lead by example when it counts.
Driven, forward‑looking and keen to keep progressing your career through increasingly complex water infrastructure work.
Strong commercial, cost and programme management skills on projects typically between $20m–$100m.
