
The Project Manager, Store Design & Visual Merchandising will lead the end-to-end execution of retail design and visual merchandising initiatives across new store openings, renovations, and seasonal rollouts. This role is critical in translating creative vision into operational excellence—ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with brand standards.
Acting as the central connector between creative, construction, vendors, and field teams, this individual brings strong project management discipline, design sensibility, and a deep understanding of retail environments.
Project Execution & Delivery
• Manage multiple store design and visual merchandising projects simultaneously across all phases, including concept development, design documentation, fabrication, and installation
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, tracking milestones, risks, and dependencies
• Ensure projects progress according to approved scope, budget, and timelines
• Coordinate installation schedules and ensure readiness for store openings and seasonal launches
• Conduct site visits, oversee installations, and support post-opening issue resolution
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with the Director of Retail to translate creative direction into actionable project deliverables
• Support the development and implementation of store layouts, fixture packages, and VM elements
• Review drawings, specifications, and vendor submissions to ensure alignment with design intent and brand standards
• Maintain and contribute to global store design and visual merchandising guidelines
• Coordinate cross-functional timelines between Store Design & VM, Procurement, Finance, and Field teams
• Partner with field teams to ensure in-store execution aligns with brand expectations
Vendor Management & Operations
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors, including millworkers, fixture fabricators, and VM production partners
• Manage bid processes, vendor timelines, and deliverables
• Track fabrication progress and proactively resolve production or installation challenges
• Monitor project budgets, purchase orders, and invoicing in partnership with Finance and Procurement
• Identify cost efficiencies while maintaining design integrity
• Support value engineering initiatives and operational decision-making
• Maintain clear communication across stakeholders through regular status updates and reporting
• Prepare project summaries and executive-ready updates for leadership reviews
• Anticipate risks and escalate issues proactively with proposed solutions
• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Visual Merchandising, or related field
• 5-8 years of experience in retail store design, visual merchandising, or project management
• Proven experience supporting retail store openings and rollouts preferred
• Strong understanding of retail environments, fixtures, materials, and construction processes
• Ability to read and markup architectural drawings
• Proficiency in CAD and project management tools
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally

As required by New York State’s salary transparency law, effective November 2022, the expected base salary for this position ranges from $115,000.00 - $120,000.00. Various factors are considered when extending offers, such as relevant skillset, training, years of experience related to the current job description, education, and our organizational structure.
