Job Description

As Project Manager Prototype (m/f/d), you ensure the availability and optimal allocation of field validation capacity for the installation, testing and homologation of prototype wind turbine components. You combine technical understanding with project and capacity management to optimize validation opportunities and support future product development and certification roadmaps.

YOUR TASKS

  • Identify, evaluate and select the most suitable wind turbines, projects and operating environments for the installation and testing of prototype components
  • Manage and continuously develop a portfolio of field validation opportunities, maximizing the utilization of available turbines and validation projects
  • Gather and consolidate validation requirements from Engineering and Product Development and translate them into suitable project and turbine allocations
  • Coordinate prototype validation activities across Engineering, Product Development, Project Execution, Service and regional teams, ensuring alignment with project priorities and homologation requirements
  • Maintain a comprehensive overview of current and future validation capacity, including turbine availability, project schedules, testing constraints and ongoing validation campaigns
  • Assess the technical interaction between parallel validation activities and determine whether additional tests can be performed without negatively affecting turbine behavior or existing test results
  • Monitor ongoing prototype validation activities and ensure alignment with agreed testing objectives, timelines and business priorities
  • Develop capacity forecasts and scenario analyses to assess future validation demand and ensure adequate support for upcoming prototype installations, validation campaigns and homologation programs
  • Identify short-, medium- and long-term capacity gaps and develop appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Develop solutions to capacity limitations, including additional validation platforms, optimized project allocation strategies and prioritization frameworks for competing validation requirements
  • Provide data-driven recommendations regarding validation project selection, resource allocation and future capacity investments
  • Contribute to the long-term identification and development of additional prototype and field validation sites
  • Drive transparency and continuous improvement across prototype and validation planning processes

YOUR PROFILE

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a comparable technical disciplineSeveral years of professional experience in the wind energy industry, preferably in wind turbine development, field validation, prototype testing or product qualification
  • Strong technical understanding of wind turbine systems, turbine behavior and validation processes
  • Experience in field testing, validation, qualification and/or homologation of wind turbine components or systems is highly desirable
  • Ability to understand and assess technical dependencies between different validation activities and their potential impact on turbine operation and test results
  • Relevant experience in technical project management, validation management or cross-functional engineering projects
  • Strong analytical capabilities and experience with capacity planning, forecasting, scenario analysis and prioritization
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, technical requirements and stakeholders while maintaining a clear overall picture
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in an international and cross-functional environment
  • Fluent English; good German language skills are an advantage
  • Willingness to travel to prototype, project and validation sites as required
