Project Manager – Procurement Systems
Be part of a major digital transformation initiative driving modernization across procurement, ERP, and enterprise systems within a large public sector environment. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact IT projects, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and contribute to strategic initiatives in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
What is in it for you:
• Salaried: $90-100 per hour.
• Incorporated Business Rate: $105-115 per hour.
• 12-month contract with a maximum extension term of 6 months.
• Full-time position: 36.25 hours per week.
• Weekday schedule from 8:15 am to 4:30 pm.
• On-site role in Edmonton, Alberta, 5 days per week.
Responsibilities:
• Manage complex Procurement system projects spanning contract-to-pay, procure-to-pay, and source-to-contract processes.
• Manage complex Human Resources Information System (HRIS) projects in compliance with public sector policies and guidelines.
• Manage Budgeting and Forecasting system projects across the fiscal year lifecycle, preferably within an SAP environment.
• Document briefing notes and project status reports for Executive Steering Committees at the ministerial level.
• Manage project resources efficiently to achieve project goals.
• Compile project charters and business or project plans to support project activities and ensure business objectives and data integrity.
• Manage projects involving business requirements documentation, solution design, and delivery of IT solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Assist with recommendations related to resource requirements, dependencies, policy implications, and project methodologies.
• Produce and package deliverables for presentations to internal support teams, steering committees, and project stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects, project resources, and governance activities simultaneously.
• Work with project sponsors to maintain effective communication and escalate risks when required.
• Maintain client satisfaction and foster strong stakeholder relationships to support successful outcomes.
• Collaborate with business and IT leadership to define project objectives, scope, timelines, budgets, risks, benefits, and resource requirements.
• Work with project sponsors and the project management office to establish project structures with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
• Document and report project progress against objectives, milestones, budgets, and resources while facilitating issue and risk resolution.
• Develop project schedules, estimate resource requirements, monitor work plans, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Provide guidance to project resources regarding priorities and timely task completion.
• Develop related requirements documentation as needed.
• Assess project outcomes with project sponsors and identify opportunities for improvement on future initiatives.
• Provide leadership and support to business and project teams requiring change management and communication assistance.
• Work within project management office standards and contribute to the definition of new standards when required.
What you will need to succeed:
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Active PMP or PGMP certification issued by the Project Management Institute is considered an asset.
• 6 years of experience in a project management role.
• 6 years of experience defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.
• 6 years of experience developing project deliverables, including project charters and business cases.
• 6 years of experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
• 4 years of experience developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships across organizations.
• 4 years of experience making recommendations on highly technical and complex issues.
• 4 years of experience working with software development methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
• 4 years of experience managing large and complex custom software implementation projects.
• 4 years of experience working within an enterprise architecture environment.
• 4 years of experience working in or for the public sector.
• 4 years of senior leadership experience within the public sector, ideally in Canada.
• 4 years of experience leading IT solutions initiatives involving multiple teams.
• Ability to learn quickly, troubleshoot issues, and work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to manage stress and conflict effectively.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder interaction skills.
• Ability to communicate project progress closely with key stakeholders.
• Availability to lead frequent daily face-to-face meetings with clients and technical teams.
