Job Title: New Units Business (NUB) Project Manager

Reports To: Manager- NUB Project Management;

Manages: Execution team for Packaging Projects related to the New Unit Business Projects

Summary

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor International Corporation (MCO-I) is seeking an experienced Project Manager (PM) to lead assigned New Units Business (NUB) projects involving centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, auxiliary systems, and associated equipment. The PM is responsible for successful execution of the MCO-I project scope from internal handover through manufacturing, packaging, delivery, commissioning support, and warranty transition. The PM serves as the primary MCO-I customer interface and works closely with MCO Japan and cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives for safety, quality, schedule, cost, cash flow, contractual compliance, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead assigned MCO-I projects from handover through manufacturing, packaging, shipment, commissioning support, and warranty transition.
• Serve as the primary customer interface for MCO-I project scope and maintain effective relationships with customers, MCO Japan, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Lead cross-functional project teams involving Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Production Planning, Logistics, Cost Control/Finance, Commercial, and Customer Service.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, action registers, and execution plans; identify risks and drive corrective or recovery actions when required.
• Monitor engineering, procurement, supplier, manufacturing, testing, documentation, packaging, and shipment activities to support contractual delivery commitments.
• Lead customer and internal project meetings, including kick-off, progress, project review, and lessons-learned meetings.
• Manage project financial performance, including revenue, cost, margin, cash flow, forecasts, and milestone invoicing in coordination with Cost Control and Finance.
• Identify and manage project scope changes, commercial exposure, cost overruns, and recoverable costs; coordinate contract modifications and change orders with Commercial Management.
• Coordinate and resolve technical, commercial, quality, schedule, supplier, and customer issues affecting project execution.
• Support customer documentation submittals, reviews, comment resolution, and approvals in coordination with MCO Japan and MCO-I stakeholders.
• Provide routine project performance reporting to NUB Project Management leadership and MCO Japan, including schedule, financial performance, risks, and required actions.
• Promote compliance with company Safety, Quality, Environmental, Information Security, and departmental requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of NUB Project Management processes, procedures, KPIs, reporting tools, and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Business, or related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• 5+ years of relevant project management or project execution experience in engineered equipment, industrial manufacturing, energy, petrochemical, LNG, or oil & gas.
• Experience leading cross functional teams involving Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Expediting, Finance/Cost Control, and Commercial functions.
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, forecasts, risks, contractual milestones, and customer deliverables.
• Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and engineered to order equipment project execution.
• Experience with customer contracts, scope changes, change orders, and commercial project issues.
• Strong leadership, customer management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project planning/reporting applications.
• Ability to work effectively with international organizations, customers, and suppliers.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10–15% and regularly support international communication outside normal business hours.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, auxiliary systems, or API rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of applicable API and other relevant industry standards.
• Experience with SAP ERP, MS Project, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Power BI, or similar.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience managing international projects and working with global engineering and manufacturing organizations.

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit and work in front of a computer for majority of the day.
• Minor lifting of files and/or boxes < 5 lbs.

Work environment

• Primarily office-based work requiring extended computer use, with periodic access to manufacturing, assembly, testing, warehouse, and industrial work areas.
• Must be able to comply with applicable site safety and PPE requirements and travel as required by project needs.
• Responsibilities may be modified or additional duties assigned based on business and project requirements.
