Lead complex projects from concept to completion, shaping the built environment of a world-class university campus

Are you an experienced project manager with a passion for delivering high-quality building and refurbishment outcomes? Macquarie University is seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our Property Management team in the Minor Works Portfolio, where you'll play a pivotal role in transforming campus infrastructure and creating spaces that inspire learning, research, and collaboration.

This is an exciting opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of minor works and refurbishment projects valued up to $5 million, working alongside a collaborative team of property professionals who are dedicated to delivering exceptional outcomes for the University community. You'll enjoy the autonomy to drive projects from inception to completion while being supported by experienced senior leaders and a committed Project Coordinator.

With Macquarie University's ongoing investment in its campus environment, you'll be part of a team that directly shapes the physical landscape of one of Australia's most dynamic universities, delivering projects that have a lasting impact on students, staff, and the broader community.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Project Management, you will manage new build, refurbishment and/or infrastructure projects across the full project delivery lifecycle. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the agreed scope and quality standards.
  • Collaborating with Macquarie Property team members and key internal stakeholders to identify and define business needs and requirements relating to programs of build, refurbishment and/or infrastructure projects.
  • Engaging, briefing, negotiating contracts with, and managing project consultants, building contractors and specialist suppliers to ensure compliance with statutory authority and legislative requirements.
  • Reviewing, analysing, and reporting on feasibility metrics relating to design, concept, and procurement, while identifying and escalating potential risks.
  • Providing expert advice to internal project and property development teams and external stakeholders to improve project quality and maximise return on investment.
  • Building and managing relationships with key internal and external project stakeholders, including Executive Group members, Heads of Office, and external consultants and the contractor community.
  • Managing, coaching, and setting direction for the Project Coordinator (HEW 7), including setting KPIs and providing feedback.

About You

You are a proactive and detail-oriented project management professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. You bring strong technical knowledge of building design and compliance, combined with excellent stakeholder management skills and a proven ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget.
