The EC Expansion Development Department is guided by a mindset of building a lean and efficient organization, and delivers products and systems that continuously strengthen and expand e-commerce. The Marketplace Expansion Development Section develops and operates services such as the J.League Online Store, Furusato Nozei (Hometown Tax), Rakken, and Raxy. Additionally, the team is responsible for launching new EC-related services with the goal of expanding and growing Rakuten's marketplace. This is a highly challenging department where you can gain unique and valuable experiences that are distinct to Rakuten.

We are seeking a Project Manager for a crucial position within our organization, which is dedicated to expanding Rakuten's marketplace. In this role, you will contribute to launching new services and revitalizing existing projects, exceeding user expectations and driving business growth together.

Position Details

The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. This includes assigning appropriate personnel to tasks with deadlines, accurately reporting on project progress while facilitating progress, risk management, and issue resolution. You will also collaborate with project stakeholders, coordinate with various departments to ensure deliverables stay on schedule and within budget, and lead projects to completion as efficiently as possible.

Key Responsibilities

- Project Planning: Goal setting, milestone and critical path planning, planning for internal and external project dependencies, test and release planning, budget planning, schedule creation

- Project Execution and Progress: Judgment and decision-making, process management, task tracking, quality control, budget and cost management, handling scope changes

- Communication: Stakeholder management, project facilitation, communication with stakeholders, reporting

- Risk Management and Mitigation

- Issue Management and Resolution Facilitation

- Improving project management best practices

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Experience as a main Project Manager

- Knowledge and familiarity with software development

- Strong leadership skills

- Ability to manage problems and risks with a sense of urgency

- Decision-making and problem-solving skills

- Communication skills (ability to minimize communication gaps between stakeholders)

- Reporting, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills

- Knowledge of Jira/Confluence and other project management tools

- Leadership mindset

- Strong "commitment" mindset to drive projects to completion

- Experience working with engineers, product managers, and business partners

 

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience in product management for EC services

- Experience in working with cross-border services
- Experience in mentoring and developing Product Managers

- Experience in project management

- Basic knowledge of engineering or equivalent development experience as an engineer

- Experience in projects primarily conducted in English
