Job Description

Field Services sits within Mintel’s Consulting team, delivering bespoke in-market research for clients through a global network of field associates and specialist partners. Our work includes product retrieval, quality assurance, in-store audits, mystery shopping and other ad hoc intelligence-gathering projects.

We are looking for a practical, commercially aware Project Manager to take ownership of Field Services projects from initial scoping through to successful delivery. You will translate client requirements into clear project plans, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, manage budgets and risks, and ensure that every project meets agreed standards for quality, timing and margin.

This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who can run multiple projects at once, make sound decisions when circumstances change, and communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and field associates across different markets and time zones.

What you will be doing

End-to-end project delivery

  • Take ownership of assigned Field Services projects from scoping and set-up through fieldwork, quality assurance, client delivery and invoicing.
  • Build and maintain clear project plans covering milestones, deadlines, responsibilities, dependencies, quality checks and client deliverables.
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent projects, balancing ongoing programmes with fast-moving ad hoc requests.
  • Ensure project status, documentation and key decisions are accurate and up to date.

Client and stakeholder management

  • Act as the day-to-day project contact for clients and internal stakeholders, setting clear expectations and providing concise, timely progress updates.
  • Work closely with Commercial, Consulting, Finance, Operations and other Mintel teams to align scope, methodology, responsibilities and delivery.
  • Support proposal development by advising on feasibility, methodology, timing, resourcing, costs and delivery risks.
  • Contribute to strong client relationships by being responsive, solutions-focused and confident in guiding stakeholders towards realistic outcomes.

Field associate and supplier coordination

  • Plan and coordinate the field associate/ shopper network required for each project, including recruitment, briefing, training, scheduling and replacement where needed.
  • Write clear, concise instructions and ensure field associates understand project standards, deadlines and submission requirements.
  • Coordinate product purchasing, collection, packing, shipping and courier activity where required; recognising logistics, customs and product-handling risks.

Data quality and reporting

  • Review and edit collected data, investigate discrepancies and ensure corrective action is completed before delivery.
  • Own project budgets and cost tracking, including field associate payments, supplier costs, expenses, invoicing inputs and margin monitoring.
  • Use project learnings and delivery data to recommend improvements to templates, processes, tools and ways of working.

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders, deadlines, dependencies and budgets. Experience in market research, fieldwork, operations, logistics or another service-delivery environment would be an advantage.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously without losing attention to detail.
  • Proactive and confident when working with clients and internal stakeholders, with the ability to constructively challenge situations, and manage difficult conversations.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively, brief external contributors, manage client expectations, and explain complex requirements clearly and effectively both in person and over the phone.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clear, professional emails to clients, effectively communicating project updates, challenges, and next steps.
  • Commercial awareness and experience monitoring costs, revenue, margin or other financial measures.
  • A strong commitment to data quality, accurate documentation and consistent delivery standards.
  • Comfortable working with colleagues, clients and field associates across different cultures, countries and time zones, with the flexibility to attend regular meetings scheduled to accommodate international time zones.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of AI tools and chat-based AI platforms welcome but not essential.
  • Additional language skills are welcome but not essential.

About Mintel

Market Intelligence is what sets us apart and what defines us as a brand – literally in fact: when the company was founded in 1972 it took its name from an amalgamation of the two words. We have been defining and refining the Market Intelligence Mix ever since, to offer our clients a unique perspective on the consumer landscape ahead and a clear roadmap with which to navigate it.

So what goes into the market intelligence mix?

MARKET RESEARCH is not the only thing we do, but it is right at the core of our business. The vast range of primary research we carry out and commission is the bedrock of our market intelligence, creating data series we can assess incrementally over the long term to track trends and forecast the future.

MARKET ANALYSIS is the second key element of the market intelligence mix. Our specialist team of market analysts scours the globe for trade, industry and government data, which our statisticians then integrate into meaningful sizing models and future value forecasts for thousands of sectors worldwide.

PRODUCT INTELLIGENCE adds micro-level relevance to the macro context of our market analysis, bringing our clients real-world examples of the launches and goods that are driving the numbers.

COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE is the fourth pillar of our work, keeping our clients abreast of their rivals’ strategies, communications and results, to give them the understanding they need to choose the right response to gain or maintain that crucial competitive edge.

The magic happens when we pull them all together. Trend analysts, category specialists, systems developers, dedicated account teams and client servicing staff work together to provide our clients with understanding as well as knowledge.

That’s our Market Intelligence. That’s how we help businesses grow. It’s why we’re the leaders in it.
