Managed Device Services (MDS)

The Specialist Project Manager (PM) for Managed Service Delivery (MSD) applies developing subject‑matter expertise to support the delivery of complex transitions and deployments across Managed Device Services (MDS). This role supports the planning, coordination, and execution of customer programs, leveraging HP’s enterprise methodologies, service frameworks, and operational best practices.

HP delivers end-to-end solutions across the full MSD lifecycle—Define, Design, Deploy, Monitor, Manage, and Support phases—ensuring proactive experiences, optimized environments, and measurable business outcomes.

Specialist PMs contribute to the Deploy phase of the MSD lifecycle, supporting execution of deployment activities and ensuring alignment with HP’s methodologies. They work under general guidance to resolve issues involving technical, operational, and organizational elements.

The Specialist PM supports the deployment and transition of managed device environments, helping ensure alignment to contractual scope, timeline, and quality expectations. They support customer-facing activities and coordinate across teams to help achieve program outcomes.

The Specialist PM applies project management fundamentals, supports alignment across stakeholders, and contributes to execution across HP and customer organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Deployment Support

  • Support execution of the Deployment phase for MDS programs, ensuring alignment with HP’s Deploy lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional, multivendor teams across device lifecycle management, endpoint provisioning, software, security, analytics, and monitoring services.
  • Assist in implementing contractual and technical requirements to support transition to steady-state operations.
  • Support preparation of cost estimates, schedules, DAIR documentation, and operational handover activities.
  • Apply HP methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid) and standard project management practices under guidance.
  • Support delivery across customer divisions and assist in multi-region coordination efforts.

Customer & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Support communication with customers and external partners.
  • Build working relationships with stakeholders across project teams.
  • Assist in facilitating meetings, status updates, and communication plans.
  • Support customer engagement activities related to device and end-user computing environments.

Program Governance & Risk Support

  • Assist in maintaining program governance structures, including tracking actions, risks, and dependencies.
  • Support preparation and maintenance of DAIR logs, reports, and documentation.
  • Escalate risks and issues to senior PMs or leadership as appropriate.
  • Contribute to quality control and compliance tracking.

Financial & Commercial Support

  • Support tracking of program financials, including cost, timelines, and resource utilization.
  • Assist in preparing forecasts and reporting updates.
  • Support identification of opportunities that contribute to customer value.

Team Collaboration

  • Work within cross-functional teams, including technical consultants and project coordinators.
  • Support senior PMs and tower leads in execution of delivery activities.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to delivery planning.
  • Build effective working relationships across HP and partner teams.

Complexity & Scope

  • Supports programs with moderate complexity and defined scope.
  • Contributes to projects with operational impact under guidance.
  • Works within established processes and contributes to continuous improvement activities.

Required Education & Experience

  • Four-year degree in Business, IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field—or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in project coordination, project management, or related technical fields.

Preferred Certifications

  • PMP (or working toward certification)
  • Agile/Scrum exposure
  • ITIL (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Familiarity with HP Services operational policies, processes, and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Managed Device Services principles, including endpoint management and device lifecycle processes.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to support issue resolution across technical and operational areas.
  • Basic understanding of project financials and governance practices.
