Job Title: Project Manager — Key Account Lead

Alternate Titles: Key Account Project Manager / Client Delivery Manager / Account

Delivery Lead

Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

Reports To: Head of Operations / VP – Delivery / COO

Dotted Line: Business Development Head

About the Company:

Our client is an internationally established engineering consultancy with 500+ engineers and detailers across 5 countries. We deliver BIM enabled engineering services, for example Structural or MEP engineering for buildings and infrastructure projects.

With our 2 business lines „Virtual Technical Office” and „End-to-end” we offer tailored-made engineering solutions or fully integrated project planning and supervision.

This is a dual-responsibility leadership role combining:

1️⃣ Client / Key Account Management

  • Single point of contact for strategic international clients (USA, Europe, Australia, Gulf)

  • Understand client pipeline, pain points, and growth strategy

  • Drive account expansion (upselling, cross-selling, new service offerings)

  • Manage quotations, negotiations, change orders, invoicing & collections

  • Maintain 60–70%+ quote win rate

  • Build long-term executive-level relationships

2️⃣ Project & Delivery Leadership

  • Lead 30–50 engineers (including Team Leaders & QC)

  • Plan, schedule, and execute 5–15 concurrent projects

  • Ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of drawings, BIM models & documentation

  • Own revenue, utilization, margins & financial performance

  • Monitor capacity planning & resource allocation

  • Maintain strict QA/QC standards

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Account Growth & Commercial Management

  • Proactively track client project pipeline

  • Prepare accurate estimates (hours/tonne, hours/sheet, hours/model element)

  • Negotiate pricing while protecting margins

  • Manage scope changes & prevent revenue leakage

  • Ensure timely billing & payment follow-up

🔹 Technical & Client Coordination

  • Lead project kick-offs

  • Manage RFIs (review, consolidate, track, resolve internally where possible)

  • Approve key deliverables before client submission

  • Maintain clear technical communication

🔹 Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop master schedules (MS Project/Smartsheet/etc.)

  • Break projects into structured work packages

  • Track planned vs. actual hours & take corrective action

  • Manage multi-project prioritization

🔹 Revenue & Margin Ownership

  • Drive weekly/monthly revenue targets

  • Submit financial & utilization reports

  • Optimize commercial terms

  • Ensure all extra work is documented & billed

🔹 Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, onboard & mentor engineers

  • Develop strong Team Leaders

  • Conduct quarterly reviews & set KPIs

  • Drive <12% attrition

  • Conduct bi-weekly technical sessions

🔹 Quality Management

  • Own quality of all deliverables

  • Maintain QC checklists per client

  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis & CAPA

  • Run monthly quality reviews

  • Maintain lessons-learned database

🔹 Technology & Automation

  • Ensure proficiency in Tekla, Revit & BIM tools

  • Drive automation (5–10% team capacity)

  • Improve productivity via parametric tools & AI

  • Measure and report efficiency gains

Ideal Candidate Profile

🎓 Education

  • B.E./B.Tech in Civil/Structural Engineering (Mandatory)

  • M.E./M.Tech (Preferred)

  • PMP / Tekla / Revit / BIM certifications (Good to Have)

👔 Experience (10–20 Years Total)

  • 7–10+ years hands-on Steel Detailing (Tekla) / Structural BIM

  • 4–6+ years full-cycle Project Management

  • 3–5+ years leading 15–50 member teams

  • Direct experience with international clients (Mandatory)

  • Experience managing ₹5 Cr+ key accounts (Preferred)

  • Strong commercial, estimation & margin management exposure

  • Background in Structural Steel Detailing / BIM / Engineering Services
