Children’s Wisconsin has an opening for a Healthcare Project Manager, Information Systems to lead complex, cross-functional healthcare IT initiatives from concept through implementation while ensuring alignment with scope, timelines, resources, and organizational goals.
Location:
Remote role; candidates must reside in the Milwaukee area. Onsite presence will be required as needed based on project demands.
Accountable for a specific project that may cross departmental and organization boundaries. Directs a specific project requiring IT support from original concept through design and implementation and insures project objectives are achieved within the agreed upon scope, timeline, risk management, and resource levels. Responsible for the implementation and management of project management processes, project structures, performance monitoring, and other control mechanisms necessary to accomplish project objectives. Proactively identifies risks, manages issues, and escalates when appropriate. Reviews and approves project deliverables, work plans, and milestones with business leaders, IT leaders, performance improvement personnel, third party consultants, and IT product vendors. In conjunction with leaders and program managers, monitors the status of the project and takes any steps necessary to focus priorities, improve project structure, resolve issues, and/or enhance workplans to ensure completion of the project objectives. Monitors activities of any closely related project(s), which have interdependencies with assigned project. Ensures communication, coordination, and integration of project work with all areas affected including end users, information services, impacted vendors, and business unit leadership. Serves as a key liaison with the business leaders in relationship to assigned project activities.
Essential Functions
- Directs a specific project that may cross departmental and organization boundaries that require IS&T support from original concept through design and implementation. Insures project objectives are achieved within the agreed upon scope, timeline, and resource levels.
- Following departmental project management standards is responsible for determining strategies, developing conceptual designs, and obtaining customer approval of project charters that define the scope, timeline, and resources required to achieve a business objective.
- Completes business assessments and develops project budget, to achieve expected outcomes and to quantify the cost/benefit of proposed system solution(s).
- Develops, manages, and integrates detailed project workplan including the definition of key activities and tasks, the allocation of appropriate resources, and the delegation of activities to project team members.
- Implements and manages project management processes, project structures, resource and progress monitoring, and other control mechanisms necessary to accomplish project objectives.
- Proactively identifies risks, manages issues, and escalates when appropriate to ensure that informed decisions are made in a timely manner.
- Designs and implements methods and systems for measuring and reporting performance on business, financial, and process metrics to assess the degree to which the project goals, objectives, and metrics are being met.
- Leads project team and/or partners with others leading project team by demonstrating the ability to effectively lead team members, facilitate team discussions, understand group dynamics, and consistently achieve outcomes through the team process.
- Reviews and approves project deliverables, work plans, and milestones with business leaders, IT leaders, third party consultants, and IT product vendors.
- Provides verbal and written project status reports to internal and external leadership including customer forums.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Knowledge of healthcare delivery, project management and management, information technology, basic budgeting, and healthcare legislation at a level acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Nursing, or other closely related field in order to understand management principles and finance Required
Experience:
- Professional Project Management certification, experience with recognized performance improvement and change management methodologies Preferred
- Healthcare experience leading interdisciplinary projects that include various healthcare providers, hospital administrators, and information system professionals Preferred
- Experience with application implementation and operational systems and their interrelationships Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand relationships within systems and integrate processes.
- Knowledge of recognized improvement and change management methodologies preferred.
- Ability to effectively use standard project-management and performance improvement / change management methodologies and tools. Adapts project management style and processes to team and the specific environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to communicate with diverse groups and resolve conflicts appropriately. Adapts style and content of communication for technical and non-technical audiences. To present to end users.
- Analytical ability to assess situation, evaluate risks, and make recommendations as well as analyze situation/information and formulate a plan of action that is in line with business and financial constraints.
- Detailed in creation of supporting documentation and development of project plans, including critical work breakdown and key resources, risks and alternatives, supporting documentation and justification, and quality assurance procedures.
- Ability to display creativity and flexibility during all aspects and phases of the project and operate effectively at all levels of the organization including with customers and project teams.
