Marine Services

VLS Marine Services division offers state-of-the-art barge cleaning, repair, and gas-free facilities for various chemical solvents and downstream petroleum products.

Qualifications

The Project Manager – Industrial Services is responsible to oversee the management of and participate in the planning, systems, and coordination of daily and long-term projects, from the quoting process, on site project activities, through project completion. The Project Manager - Industrial Services should ensure all projects are completed in a safe manner. Other responsibilities include assisting sales team with ongoing goals, serving as a liaison between customers and staff, cost control, and coordination with management.

Job Duties

  • Manage and work with the assigned personnel, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure work performance is planned and coordinated according to the schedule, with strict adherence to quality and budget considerations.
  • Assist Sales in Industrial service business development, preparation of estimates and procedures in planning of projects.
  • Maintain project work at all sites in a safe and environmentally sound condition per DOT, EPA, and OSHA requirements
  • Act as main contact with the customer for the resolution of operational issues.
  • Initiate corrective action for any unsafe or environmentally unsound conditions, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ensure that all customer and company policies are adhered to in the completion of the assigned projects.
  • Interface daily with customer contact, and constantly seek opportunities to sell additional services.
  • Actively participate in feedback and post-job evaluation portions of all field work.
  • Ensure operations personnel turn in daily job safety analyses (JSAs) and associated project paperwork.
  • Complete a post project evaluation for each project.
  • Ensure that the information needed for invoicing all projects is properly flowing to the Accounts Payable department in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • College degree or 8 years’ experience with increasing supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in industrial services or a related field.
  • Significant experience managing industrial services projects, people, and in customer relations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • 40-hour OSHA Haz-Woper Certificate
  • Confined Space Entry Certified
  • Working knowledge of Vacuum Trucks and their capabilities

Physical Demands

  • Vision: Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or project requirements.
  • Lifting: 10-50 lbs
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in high or confined places
  • Will be required to use safety equipment including but not limited to; eye wear, hearing protection, hard hats, work boots.

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions will vary depending upon the customer site environment. Work may involve lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • The employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions
  • The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions
  • The employee may be exposed to extremely dusty environments
  • The employee may be exposed to chemicals used in the process
