POSITION TITLE: Project Manager II, Project Management Office (multiple vacancies)

STATUS: Full time / Exempt

LOCATION:Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid: 2 days/week on-site, 3 days/week remote)

We are seeking a talented Project Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO). The ideal candidate will combine exceptional project delivery experience with strong strategic and analytical thinking skills to successfully lead medium- to large-scale projects that advance NCSBN's organizational objectives. This individual will partner with business leaders and project teams to translate priorities into actionable plans, guide initiatives using industry best practices, assess risks and dependencies, and drive measurable results. The Project Manager will also contribute to continuous improvement efforts by promoting project management standards, tools, and best practices across the organization.

Reporting to the Program Manager, PMO, the Project Manager II, PMO will support a variety of projects and will have the opportunity to work with a number of different departments and teams across NCSBN. The Project Manager will also have the opportunity to interact with NCSBN leadership (i.e., Chief Officers) to present updates on both operational projects as well as projects that support NCSBN strategic objectives.

This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual who has an established foundation of project management skills in multiple functional organization areas and is looking to expand their project management experience while supporting projects for an organization committed to advancing nursing regulation and policy worldwide!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guides medium- to large-sized PMO-assigned projects throughout the project lifecycle, including all aspects of project management best practice methodologies and tools. This includes assembling project teams, assigning responsibilities, and guiding team members to meet milestones and deliverables. Provides regular updates to stakeholders on project status, progress, and potential issues. Identifies and mitigates potential risks and develops contingency plans.
  • Manages PMO governance/documentation development, dashboard development/maintenance, and program/project tracking.
  • Works with the Program Manager, PMO to complete the audit and reporting of strategic plan-related projects/programs for presentation to NCSBN Chief Officers and the Board of Directors.
  • Utilizes project management knowledge to facilitate the education and implementation of best practices for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supports the definition, tracking, and reporting of business outcomes and benefits associated with strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Advises business owners on project governance, change management, implementation planning, and organizational readiness

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Four years of project management experience required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) required.
  • Experience leading multiple large to complex projects or programs from initiation through closeout required.
  • Experience leading crossfunctional projects tied to organizational strategic goals strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting organizational change and technology adoption initiatives preferred.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled productivity tools, project management platforms, and collaboration technologies to improve project delivery and reporting efficiency preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect project outcomes to organizational strategy, business objectives, and measurable success criteria.
  • Understanding of program/project management best practice methodologies required (Waterfall/Predictive, Agile)
  • Proficiency with technologies required to contribute to a PMO, i.e., dashboard reporting, program management and all additional technologies (PM platforms, Jira, Salesforce, SharePoint, Smartsheets, Visio, etc.)
  • Ability to learn new project management technologies required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The anticipated starting salary for this position is $78,000 - $100,000 annually. Actual compensation will be dependent on a candidate’s relevant experience, skills, training, certifications/licenses, qualifications and geographical location.
