Energy & Water Infrastructure Projects and Programs

Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Project Manager II to join our Projects and Programs Department’s Energy & Water Infrastructure Group. In this role, you will be responsible for managing small- to medium-scale water, wastewater, gas, and/or electrical infrastructure projects, providing project management services to ensure successful delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage small to medium-sized projects as part of a project team
  • Monitor project progress, track milestones, and ensure adherence to scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist intermediate and senior-level project managers with large-scale projects and programs
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans and strategies aligned with organizational goals. Plans will address objectives, requirements, risk, scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and coordinate and manage project resources, including team members across departments, contractors, and materials
  • Monitor project budgets, financial forecasts, and cost control measures
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members and stakeholders. Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project status.
  • Report out on project and program progress
  • Resolve issues, conflicts, and risks that impact projects
  • Lead the development of contract documents for the procurement of goods and services

What will it take to be successful in this position? A bachelor’s degree in business, management, project management, engineering, or a similar technical field is preferred. The ideal candidate will come with at least two years of project management experience. Relevant certifications – Certified Associate Project Manager (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) – are beneficial.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a small amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions within an office working environment.
