
The Project Manager for Hotel Refurbishment is responsible for managing fleet technical hotel projects across the Holland America Line, HAL, SBN, and PCL brands. This role involves developing and planning multiple hotel projects, tracking timelines, and ensuring goals and targets are met. The Project Manager ensures that projects are engineered to comply with international maritime and ADA regulations and are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing large-scale projects and possess knowledge of shipboard operations. This position requires collaboration with company operations departments, shipboard senior management, and contractors to ensure successful project completion within the approved financial plan and agreed timescales. A key part of this role is strategically leading and collaborating to ensure successful project completion while maintaining budgetary responsibility and compliance.

Responsibilities
The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that all hotel refurbishment projects are developed in full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including ADA standards and IMO frameworks such as SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC and related codes. The role supports the design process by reviewing, engineering, and validating proposals to ensure they meet all required standards, with an understanding of each proposal’s system-level and vessel-wide impacts. The Project Manager contributes to the engineering development of refurbishment projects, including system design related to structural modifications, piping, passive fire protection, means of escape, lifesaving and evacuation arrangements, and weight and stability analysis. Once a project is vetted and awarded, the Project Manager works closely with selected vendors throughout the project lifecycle to ensure continued adherence to all regulatory requirements during both planning and execution. The Project Manager is accountable for planning and executing multiple hotel refurbishment projects across the HAL, SBN, and PCL brands. This includes tracking timelines, ensuring goals and targets are met, and managing projects to completion within the approved financial plan. The role requires compliance with ADA and ship regulations. The Project Manager must ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget. This project manager must execute both short and long-term projects, with the focus on overall company and team priorities for alignment and strategic success.
This will include, but not limited to:
- Perform monitoring activities and communicate with Flag/Class during project install’s to ensure that ships comply with international regulations and standards for SOLAS.
- New Project Designs ensure that the hull and superstructure are according to specifications and test data, in conformity with standards of safety.
- New Projects conduct analyses of ships, such as stability, structural, weight.
- Maintain contact with, and formulate reports for, contractors and clients to ensure completion of work within budget
Collaboration and Execution
This role requires extensive collaboration with company operations departments, shipboard senior management, and contractors. The Project Manager must lead and play a strategic role with various stakeholders to ensure seamless project integration and execution. Effective communication and teamwork are essential to align all parties with the project's objectives. The Project Manager is responsible for maintaining strong working relationships to facilitate project success.
Financial Management
The Project Manager is responsible for managing the financial aspects of hotel refurbishment projects. This includes maintaining financial targets, collaborating with the Supply Chain to review and refine processes, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. The role involves ensuring that projects are completed within the approved financial plan. Regular financial updates and reports must be provided to senior management.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
Ensuring quality adherence and compliance with regulatory requirements is a key accountability area. The Project Manager must perform onsite inspections at dry docks to verify the quality of work completed. They are responsible for ensuring that all projects comply with maritime legislation, flag, and classification requirements. All project documentation must be updated and archived appropriately.
Leadership and Vendor Management
Although the Project Manager does not have direct reports, they must lead and manage vendors and shipboard teams effectively. This role requires strong leadership skills to influence and coordinate cross-functional teams. The Project Manager must implement and execute plans for project and equipment procurement in collaboration with logistics and contractors. They are responsible for establishing an efficient and cost-effective shipping program.
Requirements
As an in-office role, this position requires employees to work in-office Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Fridays
What You Can Expect
Base Salary Range: $83,200 to $112,300.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
