About the Role
A leading Mining Company in Gabon is seeking a highly experienced Project Manager / Project Head to lead and deliver large-scale Greenfield and EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects. This senior leadership role is pivotal in driving the successful execution of capital projects, including mining, smelters, and processing facilities. The position reports directly to the CEO and requires strong technical expertise, strategic leadership, and cross-cultural management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead planning, execution, and delivery of Greenfield and Brownfield mining/processing projects (smelters, ferro-alloy units, infrastructure).
Oversee EPC contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Develop and implement project management frameworks (scope, schedule, budget, risk, and safety).
Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, operations, finance, HSE, HR, community relations) to align execution with organizational goals.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Drive cost optimization, contract negotiation, and value engineering initiatives.
Build and lead multi-disciplinary teams across civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering functions.
Provide progress reports to the CEO/Board, including risk analysis and mitigation measures.
Maintain strong relationships with government bodies, local communities, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (Masters preferred).
13+ years of proven experience in Project Management, including Greenfield and EPC projects in mining, metals, heavy industries, or infrastructure.
Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale projects in emerging markets or challenging environments.
Strong knowledge of smelter/ferro-alloy plant construction, mining infrastructure, and process plant EPC.
Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Ability to lead multicultural and international teams.
