
About the role :
AstraZeneca’s Global Business Services (GBS)is evolving from a traditional cost-efficiency engine into anenterprise value creation platform, powered byAI agents,intelligent automation, anddata-driven decision-making.
As Project Managerin the GBS Transformation Office, you will play a central role in turning transformation ambition into delivered outcomes. Based in Lisbon, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of transformation initiativeswithin the GBS Transformation Factory, ensuring programmes are delivered to time, quality, and value.
This is ahands-on delivery leadership role. You will coordinatemulti-disciplinary Agile squads, manage dependencies and risks, and maintain the delivery rhythm needed to help GBS realise value quickly, learn continuously, and scale what works.
What you’ll do
In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of transformation initiatives from initiation through deployment and value realisation. You will create and maintain robust delivery plans, managing scope, milestones, resources, risks, and interdependencies across multiple workstreams.
You will work closely withAI engineers,process analysts,data scientists, andchange managersto deliver initiatives in rapid, time-boxed increments. You will also be accountable for team capacity, project resourcing, and budget oversight for assigned initiatives.
A core part of the role is ensuring strong governance without slowing momentum. You will track progress throughEvaluation-Driven Development (EDD)gates, ensuring every agent, assistant, or automation meets agreed evaluation criteria before production deployment. You will provide transparent reporting on delivery status, risks, blockers, and value realised, while escalating and resolving issues acrossTechnology,Data & AI, andGBS Operations.
You will also help shape a culture of continuous improvement by tracking value acrossspeed,quality,experience, andproductivity, surfacing underperforming initiatives early, and contributing to reusable delivery assets, templates, and ways of working that accelerate future programmes.
Essential requirements
Proven experiencein project or delivery management withintransformation,automation, ortechnology deliveryenvironments
Strong knowledge ofAgile delivery methodologiesand tools, with experience managing multiple workstreams in time-boxed increments
Demonstrated success coordinatingcross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams
Experience withpeople and budget accountability, including team capacity planning, resourcing, and spend management
Strongrisk,dependency, andstakeholder managementcapability
Ability to translate delivery progress intoclear value and KPI reporting
Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cultures and geographies
Confidence operating in afast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous transformation environment
Fluent English, written and spoken
Desirable requirements
Experience deliveringAI,automation,RPA, ordigital transformationinitiatives
Agile certificationsuch as Scrum, SAFe, or equivalent
Lean Six Sigmaawareness, ideally Yellow or Green Belt
Experience inpharmaceutical,life sciences, orGBS / Shared Servicesenvironments
