About this role

Responsible for the oversight of small-scale facilities planning projects college-wide. Manages planning and design of new facilities, remodels, and minor renovations to existing facilities. Oversees design professionals, contractors, consultants, and vendors to implement projects while maintaining the College’s design and construction standards.

What a day of a Project Manager, Facilities Planning looks like:

  • Researches and implements specifications for design and construction projects to meet educational facilities standards.

  • Coordinates and communicates with college staff and stakeholders on needs and requirements for the project.

  • Oversees other project managers, architects, and stakeholders by producing conceptual space plans in AutoCAD based on program requirements, user needs, and site constraints.

  • Solicits proposals for design and construction services, and other specialty consultants.

  • Provides oversight and planning reviews for design and bid documents.

  • Prepares contracts, purchase orders, and various reports related to the construction, remodeling, renovation, and maintenance of college facilities.

  • Reviews building, life safety code, and accessibility requirements and ensures compliance with all safety standards.

  • Oversees administrative details that may include project scope of work, consultant document reviews, contractor billings, project schedules, building project budgets, and consultant and construction contracts.

  • Monitors various projects to ensure maximum effectiveness and compliance.

  • Prepares and interprets drawings, graphs, maps, blueprints, bid documents, contracts, proposals, and specifications. Identifies and resolves issues prior to and during construction.

  • Plans, directs, and controls the work of people who do not report directly to you, but who provide support to the goals and objectives of your organization.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Two years of related experience, including experience in design & construction as a project design or construction manager

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

  • Contract process, documents, and preparation

  • Building codes and Accessibility requirements

  • AutoCAD

Skilled in:

  • Interpreting architecture and engineering construction documents

  • Project management analysis and design

  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management

Ability to:

  • Interpret blueprints and related symbols

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service

  • Manage large-scale projects requiring the management of multiple responsibilities

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

  • Regular physical attendance required

  • Valid Florida driver’s license

Preferred, but not a must:

Education and Experience:

  • Experience managing small commercial or institutional construction projects

Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of State Requirements of Educational Facilities (SREF)

  • Bluebeam construction software

  • REVIT or BIM software

  • Procore Construction Management Software

  • Excel, Google Sheets or similar application

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

  • Architectural, Engineering, or Interior Design license

This is a grant-funded position with a fixed salary range. The minimum annual base pay is $57,778.00, with the final salary offer contingent on the candidate’s education and experience, and the availability of grant funds.
