Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication projects, with success measured by safety, on-time delivery, budget adherence, and client satisfaction. The Project Manager collaborates closely with internal teams, including estimating, detailing, engineering, procurement, production, quality, and logistics, to drive project success and strengthen client relationships. This role also supports continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and business growth within the fabrication business line.

Job Duties
• Complete Revenue and Margin targets for manufacturing projects.
• Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities and supporting client retention.
• Monitoring project delivery progress.
• Meet with clients, stakeholders, and finance to report on project progress and address emerging issues.
• Liaising with clients and building strong working relationships.
• Devise cost-effective plans to enable project completion.
• Managing risks to avoid delays or reputational damage.
• Understand and implement WesTower’s Health and Safety policies and guidelines.
• Coach and mentor project teams with performance reviews, one-on-one meetings, and constructive feedback.
• Manage multiple fabrication projects from award through closeout.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and execution plans.
• Coordinate detailing, procurement, shop fabrication, coatings, and delivery/installation requirements (as applicable).
• Monitor production progress and proactively address schedule or cost variances.
• Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and quality standards (e.g., CWB, AISC, where applicable).
• Accountable for project revenue, margin, and cost control.
• Track and manage project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and change orders.
• Identify, price, and negotiate scope changes with clients.
• Provide accurate forecasting and financial reporting.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong, professional relationships.
• Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates.
• Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and documentation requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within fabrication operations.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure project activities comply with all applicable HSE and quality standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with estimating, detailing, engineering, procurement, production, quality, logistics, operations, and field teams to ensure project success.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to project coordinators or support staff.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment through effective leadership, mentorship, and open communication.

Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Diploma, Engineering Degree, or related education preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years of project management experience in structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals fabrication.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, shop workflows, and erection considerations.
• Experience reading and interpreting structural drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Knowledge of industry standards (CWB, AISC, AWS, CSA, etc.) is considered an asset.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong financial and commercial management skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities.
