Project Manager – Engineering & Supply – D365

Join us as our Project Manager in the ONE ERP journey of Alfa Laval, India (E&S) and lead the end to end rollout of Microsoft Dynamics 365 . You will drive planning, execution, testing, cutover, and adoption to enable standardized delivery across project management, project accounting, commercial management, procurement/subcontracting, time & expense, and finance.

The ideal candidate should be able to drive project-driven environments and can bridge business and technology to ensure controls, compliance, and business outcomes—such as improved project margin visibility, reduced revenue leakage, accurate WIP, and faster billing cycles.

Key Responsibilities in this role (Operations):

Program & Governance Leadership

  • Define scope, success metrics, and phased rollout strategy (pilot → wave deployments → stabilization).
  • Build and maintain the integrated project plan (timeline, milestones, dependencies, resourcing, budget).
  • Establish governance: Steering Committee, PMO cadence, status reporting, RAID and change control.
  • Facilitate decision-making, resolve cross-functional conflicts, and manage escalations.

Project Business Process Standardization (End-to-End)

Lead design and rollout of standardized processes across:

  • Contract Management (scope, deliverables, pricing, terms, change orders)
  • Project Planning & Control (WBS, schedule/cost baselines, progress measurement, EVM where applicable)
  • Resource Management (staffing, utilization, capacity, subcontractor planning)
  • Time & Expense (timesheets, approvals, expense policies, chargeability)
  • Project Procurement & Subcontracting (requisitions, POs, subcontract agreements, back-to-back costs)
  • Project Accounting (cost collection, capitalization where relevant, allocations)
  • WIP & Revenue Recognition (POC/milestone, accruals, deferrals, billing plans)
  • Billing & Collections (invoicing, retainage, client billing formats, dispute management)
  • Close & Reporting (project close, period close impacts, margin and variance reporting)

Solution Delivery (ERP + Adjacent Systems)

  • Partner with enterprise architects and functional leads to deliver the target solution across ERP modules such as:
    • Project System / PPM / PSA, Finance (GL/AP/AR/FA), Procurement, Inventory (if applicable), HR/time.
  • Coordinate integrations with CRM, CPQ, time-tracking tools, document management and data warehouse/BI.
  • Ensure solution design supports multi-entity, multi-currency, tax, and statutory reporting needs (as applicable).

Data, Master Data & Controls

  • Own the data strategy with business leads:
    • Project master, WBS structures, rate cards, cost categories, billing rules, customers, vendors, GL mappings.
  • Drive data cleansing, migration, reconciliation, and sign-offs (open projects, backlog, unbilled revenue, WIP).
  • Ensure internal controls and audit readiness (SoD, approval workflows, revenue recognition controls, change orders).

Change Management, Training & Adoption

  • Develop stakeholder mapping and change impact assessment (PMs, finance controllers, project accountants, delivery teams).
  • Drive training strategy (role-based training, job aids, super-user network, train-the-trainer).
  • Monitor adoption KPIs and address process compliance gaps (timesheet discipline, change order governance, billing timeliness).

Vendor, Budget & Commercial Management

  • Manage SI and software partners: SOWs, milestones, deliverables, acceptance criteria, and quality gates.
  • Control budget and forecasts; manage scope changes and recovery plans.
  • Ensure delivery quality across onshore/offshore teams and multiple workstreams.

Who should you be?

  • Min. qualification would be a Bachelor’s degree in, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 7–10+ years of project management experience, with 2+ full-cycle ERP implementations (multi-entity/multi-country preferred).
  • Proven ERP rollout experience in project-based businesses (EPC, construction, engineering services, professional services, project manufacturing, capital projects).
  • Deep working knowledge of:
    • Project accounting, WIP, revenue recognition, billing, cost control, change orders, time & expense.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing System Integrators/vendors.

  • Strong stakeholder management with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive decisions.
  • Excellent planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation capabilities.
  • Structured problem-solving and ability to manage ambiguity across business/IT boundaries.
  • Strong communication: exec-ready status updates, clear escalation paths, and crisp documentation.

Success Metrics (KPIs)

  • On-time / on-budget delivery; scope stability and controlled change management.
  • Increased project margin visibility (real-time cost vs budget, forecast accuracy).
  • Reduction in revenue leakage and improved billing timeliness (DSO improvements).
  • Accurate WIP/unbilled revenue reporting; reduced month-end close effort and reconciliation issues.
  • Adoption: timesheet compliance, change order governance adherence, reduced manual workarounds.
  • Go-live quality: UAT pass rates, defect leakage, cutover success, time-to-stabilize.
