OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares and reviews plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical correspondence, reports, and project schedules.
Coordinates the implementation of projects and contracts.
Provides technical support to operation and maintenance staff. Interprets codes and regulations.
Interfaces with various service lines and departments.
Investigates and/or responds to inquiries from technical personnel, regulatory agencies and the general public.
Communicates directly and indirectly with consultants and contractors.
Conducts and coordinates special projects. Provides technical guidance and training to staff.
Prepares administrative documents and correspondence such as reports, letters, forms, procedural guidelines and schedules. Review and monitors work activities performed by external consultants.
Analyzes work processes and implements improvements to enhance the functioning of drainage infrastructure, equipment and systems. Performs other technical work relative to drainage infrastructure.

WORKING CONDITIONS
There are occasional discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve occasional exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of up to 30 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces. Requires the ability to make simple gross motor responses within large tolerances.

This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier II Level.

Examples of duties

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Project Management or a closely related field based on the responsibilities of the position. Considerable knowledge of design or construction is required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four years of experience in construction, construction inspection, design, landscape design, geotechnical, environmental or a closely related field are required.

Directly related professional architectural, construction or landscape design experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
