Project Manager - Electricity Networks - Own Delivery from Tender to Close-Out

Lead, grow & deliver critical electricity infrastructure projects across Victoria

UGL's Utilities O&M business delivers critical maintenance, construction and network services across electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure. In Victoria, we partner with key clients including Powercor and AusNet, supporting network upgrades, maintenance programs, outages and essential infrastructure projects.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership, building relationships, solving problems and delivering projects from start to finish. You'll be joining a growing team with a strong pipeline of work and the opportunity to help influence how we deliver projects as the business continues to grow.

Why this role

  • Be part of a successful and rapidly growing Utilities O&M team.
  • Manage a portfolio of power network projects across Victoria.
  • Take ownership of projects from tendering and planning through to delivery and close-out.
  • Work closely with major clients including Powercor, AusNet and emerging network customers.
  • Play a key role in growing the Victorian business and helping secure future opportunities.
  • Work alongside experienced operational, engineering and field teams who are passionate about what they do

About the role

We're looking for a Project Manager who can take ownership, make decisions, solve problems and drive projects through to completion. This is very much a "here's the project, go and get it done" type of role.

You'll be responsible for managing multiple projects at various stages of delivery, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard. Projects may range from smaller lump sum works through to larger network delivery programs, with responsibility for planning, scheduling, subcontractor management, commercial performance, client relationships and overall project outcomes.

You'll work closely with planners, crew leaders, subcontractors, suppliers and clients while helping bring structure, process and strong commercial discipline to project delivery. There will also be opportunities to support tendering, pricing and business growth initiatives as we continue to expand our Victorian operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead power network projects through the full project lifecycle, from tendering and planning through to delivery and close-out.

  • Manage project performance across safety, scope, schedule, budget, quality and risk to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Oversee project planning, resource allocation, subcontractors, procurement and project governance activities.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, crews, contractors and stakeholders while providing leadership to project teams.

  • Drive commercial performance, including forecasting, cost control, variations, tender support and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we offer

  • Hybrid work environment when possible.
  • Access our OneRewards Discount Program.
  • Discounted Medibank health insurance.
  • Participate in our Wellness Program with AIA Vitality.
  • Benefit from 16 weeks of paid primary parental leave.
  • Complimentary salary continuance insurance.
  • Shape your career with an Individual Development Plan.

About you

You've managed power network, electricity distribution, transmission or utilities infrastructure projects before and understand what it takes to get work delivered safely, efficiently and commercially.

You're a practical, straight-talking Project Manager who enjoys owning outcomes and building strong relationships with clients and crews alike. You're comfortable managing competing priorities, making decisions and keeping projects moving forward.

  • Experience in a similar Project Manager position within electricity distribution, transmission, utilities or power network environments.

  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, variations and project costs.

  • Experience managing subcontractors, field crews and project stakeholders.

  • A solid understanding of project planning, scheduling, risk and delivery management.

  • The ability to confidently communicate with clients and build trusted relationships and travel to electricity depots around Victoria.
