ESB is entering an ambitious phase of power station asset demolition and site transition over the coming years as legacy generation assets are safely retired and sites are prepared for future use. These projects are an important part of ESB's wider strategy to decarbonise electricity, build resilient infrastructure and enable the sustainable redevelopment of strategic generation sites.

We are seeking two experienced Project Managers to join our Demolition Programme within Engineering & Major Projects (E&MP). The successful candidates will lead the delivery of key demolition projects within ESB's generation portfolio, including:

• Marina Phase II and Aghada AD1 Power Station Demolition Projects
• West Offaly and Lough Ree Power Station Demolition Projects

These roles require experienced project delivery professionals capable of operating in complex brownfield generation environments. The positions will require strong client-side leadership across project development, technical and commercial coordination, procurement and contract support, safety and environmental delivery, stakeholder engagement, governance, reporting and project close-out.

The Project Managers will lead multidisciplinary E&MP engineering teams, manage consultant and contractor inputs, and maintain strong alignment with Generation & Trading, E&MP specialist functions and local site stakeholders to deliver projects safely, sustainably and commercially, with clear governance, effective issue resolution and strong communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead assigned demolition projects through the full project lifecycle, from scope development, tendering and evaluation through mobilisation, contract delivery, handover and close-out, in accordance with ESB Project Management Methodology and approved scope, schedule, cost and quality baselines.
• Champion health, safety, environmental performance and sustainability from the outset, ensuring ESB's Safe & Sound approach and all statutory, Industrial Emissions Licence, planning, waste and environmental obligations are embedded in delivery.
• Coordinate key internal and external interfaces, including ESB business, site and specialist functions, contractors, statutory and regulatory bodies and adjacent landowners or building owners.
• Lead multidisciplinary E&MP engineering teams, specialist consultants and advisors in the development of tender documentation, technical reviews, tender evaluations, contract negotiations and award recommendations.
• Administer and oversee demolition contracts from the ESB client-side position, including change control, claims awareness, progress measurement, cost forecasting, commercial records, performance oversight and escalation through appropriate governance routes.
• Embed E&MP project and quality processes into delivery, coordinate site teams working alongside contractors and maintain clear programme, cost, governance, lessons learned and close-out reporting.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Relevant third-level qualification in engineering, construction, project management, environmental management or a related discipline.
• 7+ years' relevant experience in project engineering, project delivery, asset management, infrastructure, utilities, construction, operations or site-based roles.
• Demonstrable experience supporting or leading complex projects or work packages of significant scale and complexity.
• Strong project delivery capability, including planning, contractor and consultant management, cost control, programme management, quality, governance and reporting.
• Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and external interfaces.
• Working knowledge of construction safety obligations and PSDP/PSCS interfaces within construction, demolition, decommissioning or industrial project environments.

Desirable

• Experience in power stations, generation assets, decommissioning, demolition, heavy industrial, outage, brownfield, asset retirement or other constrained operational site environments.
• Knowledge of waste, environmental licensing, planning compliance, consents management or similar regulatory requirements.
• Project management qualification and/or familiarity with ESB Project Management Methodology, E&MP systems, SAP, SharePoint, procurement processes and Generation & Trading interfaces.
• Chartered Engineer status, membership of Engineers Ireland or progression towards a relevant professional accreditation.

Location

The successful candidates may be based in either:

• E&MP Offices, The Sidings Building, Dublin 2
• E&MP Offices, Eastgate, Little Island, Cork

Regular attendance will be required at assigned project locations, including Marina, Aghada, West Offaly and Lough Ree Power Stations, as well as other relevant ESB offices and sites, as the role demands.

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make in-person time together as purposeful as possible while enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidates may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, team and business.

Salary

€71,000 - €84,000 per annum
