Job Description

Are you an adaptable and structured project manager who thrives on bringing clarity to complex technical challenges?

At Blykalla, we’re seeking a Project Manager to lead the industrialization and validation of our reactor components. You’ll coordinate work across engineering, manufacturing and suppliers, ensuring that plans are clear, progress is transparent and results are delivered.

What we do at Blykalla

Blykalla is developing the next generation of nuclear technology with our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) based on innovative fuel, materials, and reactor designs. As Sweden’s only SMR developer, we are on a mission to decarbonize industries and enable safe, scalable, and sustainable energy solutions. Our technology uses uranium nitride fuel and lead coolant, creating novel challenges and opportunities for the fuel cycle and supporting systems.

What you’ll get to do

As a Project Manager at Blykalla, you’ll coordinate and steer projects focused on developing, testing, and industrializing core reactor components. You’ll ensure that the work moves forward efficiently, with clear structures and communication between internal teams and external partners.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating activities and steering the engineering team in the right direction.

  • Maintaining and updating the Project Charter and Project Management Plan (PMP).

  • Managing resources, timelines, and deliverables, and reporting progress and risks to the Business Review Meetings (BRM) and project sponsor.

  • Balancing technical input from design, manufacturing partners, and materials development.

  • Mitigating risks, solving blockers, and ensuring projects stay on schedule.

  • Supporting test rig planning, equipment commissioning, and validation efforts.

  • Ensuring structured communication, documentation, and follow-up across all stakeholders.

  • Engaging with technical details when needed to ensure progress and resolve challenges.

Who you are

You are a hands-on, technically minded project manager who enjoys bringing structure to complex work and driving results. You’re comfortable coordinating across engineering and suppliers, and you thrive in a setting where clarity and progress matter.

We believe you have:

  • A degree in engineering or equivalent technical background.

  • 5+ years of experience in project management within component or hardware development.

  • Strong experience in stakeholder management and communication.

  • A proven track record of commissioning equipment and delivering technical projects to completion.

  • A proactive, solution-oriented “get things done” attitude.

  • Fluency in English; Swedish is a plus.

Nice to have:

  • Experience from testing, qualification, or validation projects.

  • Familiarity with supplier management or nuclear industry environments.

Location

This position is for our office in Stockholm.

So, what do you think?

Joining our team means being part of a supportive and innovative environment where your ideas are valued and your expertise is recognized.

You will have the opportunity to work with industry leaders and contribute to the safe and sustainable use of nuclear power.

If you are ready to take on this exciting challenge and contribute to the future of clean energy, we would love to hear from you!

Note: We do not offer relocation for this position.

About Blykalla

Blykalla is on a mission to change the energy future of the world, by providing green, safe, baseload energy through next generation small modular lead-cooled reactors.

Blykalla is a Swedish deep-tech company founded in 2013 by Janne Wallenius, Peter Szakalos and Jesper Ejenstam as a spin-off from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where Janne Wallenius carried out research on design and safety analysis on lead-cooled reactor systems since 1996.

We develop and build lead-cooled small modular reactors (SMRs) to deliver safe, scalable and carbon-free baseload power supply. Thanks to lead-cooling, we achieve high safety in a very compact format, allowing for a simple and cost effective design that can be mass produced. Our unique reactor design will provide safe and green baseload energy that is a perfect complement to solar and wind power.
