Job Description

Are you an experienced project manager ready to take on a new challenge? The Project Manager will report to the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and support major technology initiatives that advance South Carolina’s statewide education and workforce efforts. This role oversees the full lifecycle of digital platform releases, manages ongoing enhancement projects, and partners closely with Product Owners, educators, workforce partners, and other stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.

This role will develop project plans, coordinate activities, monitor progress, manage budgets, and ensure accurate documentation. The role involves adhering to project management best practices, identifying, and mitigating risks, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager will:

• Intake, evaluate, and prioritize new initiatives based on stakeholder needs and analytics insights.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute projects within the Department of Employment and Workforce, ensuring they meet quality standards and adhere to established methodologies.
• Perform effective stakeholder management and communication, engaging with various internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging feedback and lessons learned.
• Organize, manage resources, and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Solve problems and make decisions efficiently.
• Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Analyze problems, assess risks, and develop solutions.

Examples of duties

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business administration, project management, or a related discipline and at least 5 years of project management experience or at least 3 years of Government or public sector project management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.

Additional Requirements

Experience building and maintaining SharePoint sites, libraries, and collaboration environments. Experience developing Power BI dashboards, visualizations, or reports for project, program, or platform analytics. Occasional travel for stakeholder engagement or vendor coordination. Other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Experience managing digital platforms, portals, or product lifecycle operations.
• Experience in workforce development, education systems, or public-sector community engagement.
• Vendor and contract management experience.
• Strong skills in stakeholder communication, facilitation, and roadmap planning.
• Experience with data analysis, platform performance metrics, or operational analytics.
