Project Manager, Change & Configuration Management, IRIS2 Programme Office

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States. In addition, as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while benefiting from ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.
SES – together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by the European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.
The IRIS2 team enters next project phases, we seek and there is a strong need of support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.
- The Configuration & Change Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity, control, and traceability of programme baselines and changes across all domains.
- The role combines configuration management and change control responsibilities, ensuring that all system elements are properly identified, baselined, and updated in line with approved changes, and that all changes are controlled, assessed, and fully traceable.
- The role acts as the central coordination point between configuration, change management, and governance, enabling coherent execution across development, system engineering, manufacturing, and operations.
- The Position is leading the configuration competencies across the organization and supports the configuration management of the projects
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
- Configuration Management
- Define and implement the configuration management approach aligned with programme-level requirements
- Establish and maintain:
- Configuration item (CI) structure
- Naming conventions and versioning rules
- Support definition and maintenance of:
- Functional, allocated, and product baselines

- Ensure consistency between:
- Design baseline
- As‑built configuration
- As‑operated configuration
- Change Management
- Implement and manage the change control process in alignment with programme governance
- Coordinate lifecycle of change requests:
- Creation
- Logging
- Impact Assessment
- Submission to governance
- Ensure changes are:
- Properly documented
- Assessed across cost, schedule, risk, and technical domains
- Submitted to the appropriate governance board for decision
- Configuration & Change Integration
- Ensure full traceability between
- Configuration items
- Baselines
- Change requests
- Approved decisions
- Guarantee that:
- Only approved changes are implemented
- Configuration baselines are updated accordingly
- Status Accounting & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of:
- Configuration baselines
- Change logs
- Implementation status

COMPETENCIES
- Strong experience in:
- Configuration Management
- Change Management
- Integrated programme environments
- Solid understanding of:
- System engineering lifecycle
- Risk and change processes
- Integration and industrialisation
- Ability to consolidate and communicate complex information in a clear and structured manner
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
- High level of attention to detail combined with big ‑picture understanding
- Experience in multi ‑stakeholder or institutional programmes (ESA/EC) is a strong asset
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- University degree in either Telecom, IT or Satellite Engineering
- Minimum 5 years proven professional experience in project management
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Any other European Language is considered an asset
- Experience in using MS Tools including MS Project
- Strong experience in project management and programme environments
- Experience with PLM / configuration tools & structured data and baseline management
- Proven experience in working with EU, ESA, and or national governmental institutions along ECSS standards
- PMP® Certification (nonessential)
OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS
- The candidate must be eligible for a “SECRET” security clearance, in accordance with the national regulations as well as EU/ESA/NATO equivalents
- Willing to work 60% onsite from office
