
Project Manager – Building Restoration

About the Opportunity
Our client is a growing engineering consulting firm specializing in building restoration, structural engineering, building envelope, capital planning, and other multidisciplinary building engineering services.
They are looking for a Project Manager to join their Building Restoration team. This role will oversee projects from initial investigation and design through construction and completion, with significant interaction with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal engineering teams.
This is a strong opportunity for a building restoration professional who enjoys combining technical engineering, project management, site investigations, construction involvement, and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Manage building restoration projects from initial design through construction and project completion.
Conduct site investigations, building evaluations, and condition assessments.
Prepare technical reports, recommendations, scopes of work, specifications, and restoration drawings.
Lead proposal development, including project scope, fee estimates, schedules, and resource planning.
Lead client meetings and communicate project updates, design changes, and key milestones.
Coordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage tendering activities and contract administration, including bid reviews, contractor selection, invoices, and change orders.
Provide technical direction and support during the construction phase.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project partners.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members.
Stay current with building codes, restoration practices, industry standards, and emerging technologies.
Participate in industry events and business development/networking activities.
Travel within Canada occasionally, with the majority of projects located in Nova Scotia.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in building envelope and/or structural restoration.
P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia.
Demonstrated project management experience, including budgets, schedules, resources, scope, and deliverables.
Strong understanding of building restoration, investigations, rehabilitation, and construction processes.
Experience preparing technical reports, specifications, scopes of work, and construction documentation.
Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
