Automation Project Manager

The Project Manager is an integral member of the project team who is responsible for managing multiple business unit projects and complex single business unit projects. The Project Manager is responsible for directing, organizing, and controlling project activities.

Automation Project Manager Success Factors:

  1. Project Management: Successfully manage projects to be delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Effectively manage scope changes and issue change requests when appropriate. Consistently exhibits exceptional customer service that cultivates long-lasting business partnerships.
  2. Project Proposal: Contribute and support the proposal process by reviewing project management service deliverables, scope, schedule, and ensure commercial details are clearly presented.
  3. Consistency and Quality: Adhere to the project management processes and project execution plans. Drive accountability to all stakeholders on the project team to ensure quality and consistently follow the processes and procedures.
  4. Process Improvement: Demonstrate a desire for continuous improvement by recognizing processes that can be improved and being an active team member in making improvements.

Automation Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget and in accordance with Applied Control methodology and standards
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Contribute to the proposal process, understanding and holding all participants accountable for deliverables and deadlines
  • Effectively communicate project resource needs throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of project scopes
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Prepare for and run recurring client meetings, reviews and factory acceptance tests with project team
  • Execute multiple, concurrent projects including services, hardware, and panel scopes across a variety of clients and industries
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties for the flawless execution of projects
  • Manage project risk and issue management as it relates to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs while minimizing Applied Control’s exposure and risk
  • Support the company in the development and constant improvement of company project management standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Successfully foster relationships and manage communication with the client and all stakeholders
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including meeting notes, project scheduling, milestones, RAID logs, transmittals, etc.
  • Ensure timely invoice submittals based on project milestone completion as well as reviewing and approving subcontractor invoices for accuracy
  • Coordinate with interdepartmental team members, including inside sales, services, and account managers to deliver successful project execution

Automation Project Manager Skills/Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is strongly preferred
  • PMP or similar is a bonus
  • Proven working experience in project management related to I&C projects
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and MS Project
  • Well organized with attention to detail
  • Effective prioritization and time management skills
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous process improvement
  • Demonstrated results‑driven mentality with strong drive and initiative, consistently taking ownership to move projects forward and deliver results ahead of schedule
  • Discreet with confidential information
  • Proven ability to work closely with others and find solutions to problems

Automation Project Manager Working Conditions:

Working in an office setting or a manufacturing facility. Driving and operating machinery involved. This position may require evening, weekend and holiday hours, as well as travel (15%). Lifting up to 50 pounds is required on occasion.

Automation Project Manager Compensation:

Base range: $100,000 - $110,000 annual salary. For candidates with significant direct Project Management experience (at least 10 years) the range may go up to $120,000.

Work experience, industry knowledge, and unique skills will be taken into consideration when setting the base wage.

Other: Eligible for additional incentive compensation including an annual profit share award.
