Job Description
Company Overview: Established in California in 2013, Green Water and Power has rapidly grown to operate in over 35 states, positioning itself as a leader in the sustainable energy sector. Named the #1 electric vehicle (EV) installer in America, we take pride in having deployed more than 14,000 EV chargers and completed approximately 5 megawatts (MW) of solar energy projects.
As an EVITP (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program) certified turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm, we leverage our in-house expertise to efficiently manage and execute large-scale projects. Our dedication to sustainability and quality extends beyond project completion; we also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services to ensure optimal performance for the projects we develop, as well as for third-party installations.
Position Overview: Green Water and Power is seeking an experienced Project Manager to build and lead our new dedicated Greenfield Construction Team. This role owns new-build EV charging infrastructure projects from raw, undeveloped land through energization and handoff to our Operations & Maintenance team, including site civil work, underground utilities, concrete foundations, electrical service, and charger installation. You will direct a traveling team of skilled trades and subcontractors on projects nationwide. This is a high-visibility leadership position for a seasoned construction professional who has delivered ground-up projects and wants the opportunity to shape a team and a playbook from the start.
Pre-Construction & Planning:
- Lead due diligence and pre-construction site walks, reviewing geotechnical reports, survey and topographic data, existing utilities, site access, and drainage.
- Review civil, structural, and electrical plan sets and single-line diagrams with engineering; identify constructability issues and value-engineering opportunities before mobilization.
- Develop baseline and look-ahead schedules, budgets, and staffing and equipment plans that sequence excavation, underground, concrete, backfill, and electrical work.
- Coordinate service applications and make-ready work with serving utilities, including transformer pad, service, and metering requirements, and track utility milestones against the schedule.
Field Execution:
- Direct day-to-day activities of the Greenfield Team and subcontractors; lead daily safety huddles and weekly progress meetings.
- Ensure 811 utility locates are requested and maintained before any ground disturbance and that critical utilities are verified by potholing.
- Schedule and coordinate AHJ inspections, special inspections, compaction and concrete testing, and utility inspections; maintain inspection logs.
- Partner with the procurement manager on materials and long-lead equipment (switchgear, transformers, chargers) and coordinate deliveries to remote sites.
- Track budget, labor hours, equipment utilization, and change orders; manage RFIs and submittals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for property owners, developers, and client representatives.
- Lead punch lists, final inspections, and commissioning of electrical systems and chargers.
- Deliver as-built drawings, test reports, warranties, and O&M documentation, and hand off completed sites to GWP's O&M team.
- Mentor team members and cross-train them across trades, supporting their growth toward certifications and leadership roles.
- Review and approve time reporting, expense reports, per diem, and travel logistics for the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Sr. Construction Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 4-5 years of construction experience.
- Proven track record managing site civil, underground utility, concrete, and electrical scopes on the same project.
- Experience coordinating with utilities on new services, service upgrades, and low- and medium-voltage electrical infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, grading, structural, and electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams.
- Working knowledge of the NEC (including Article 625 for EV charging systems), OSHA construction standards, and local building codes.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Proficiency with scheduling and project management software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage client, utility, and AHJ relationships.
- Capable of managing multiple concurrent projects in different locations.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with EV charging, solar, battery storage, or other energy infrastructure projects.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Travel & Schedule:
- Travel is required up to 75-100% of the time to greenfield project sites across GWP's operating states.
- Assignments may last several weeks at a time; overnight and extended stays are expected.
- Work may follow a rotational schedule with planned time at home between assignments.
- Company-paid lodging, travel, and daily per diem are provided while on assignment.
- Overtime and weekend work may be necessary to meet project deadlines; flexibility with work hours and extended workdays is required.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary based on experience (DOE), up to $140,000 annually.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits package.
- Retirement savings plan.
- Paid time off.
- Paid training and reimbursement for approved certifications.
- Opportunities for professional growth and advancement within a rapidly expanding industry.
- Collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity.
- Opportunity to make a significant impact on the transition to sustainable energy solutions.
Additional Information:
