We are seeking a dedicated, highly organized, and results-oriented Project Manager to join our global Disaster Risk Management group, which specializes in disaster risk reduction, response, reconstruction, and urban resilience. With experience responding to over 100 global and U.S. disasters, our data-driven, multidisciplinary approach addresses economic, political, socio-cultural, sustainability, and technical challenges in some of the world's most demanding environments. This position is to be based in our Los Angeles office. No relocation or sponsorship is provided.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will oversee the implementation of complex global disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience programs, with a strong focus on effective contract/award management. Working under the direction of Miyamoto’s Senior Principals overseeing global disaster response and preparedness work, the Project Manager will work closely with technical specialists, country teams, finance, operations, and project coordination staff to ensure programs are delivered effectively, on time, within budget, and in accordance with donor requirements.

The role will provide day-to-day oversight of program implementation, including work planning, budget and expenditure management, reporting, compliance, procurement and contracting coordination, risk management, and contract/award administration. The Project Manager will support multiple country programs and help teams translate program objectives and award requirements into practical implementation.

The position will require flexibility to deploy to disaster-affected countries as needed. During emergency responses, the Project Manager may support the rapid establishment and management of project systems, budgets, reporting, coordination, and other operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day implementation of global disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and reconstruction programs, ensuring activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with program and donor requirements.
• Lead project planning and management, including development and oversight of workplans, budgets, implementation schedules, deliverables, reporting calendars, and project management systems.
• Oversee contract and grant/award requirements, including reporting, compliance, documentation, procurement and contracting processes, and coordination of required approvals and modifications.
• Manage project budgets in close coordination with operations, finance, and program teams, including expenditure monitoring, forecasting, budget-to-actual review, and identification of potential financial or implementation issues.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary, international, and in-country teams to support effective program delivery, problem-solving, and timely decision-making.
• Work closely with Sr. Principals and technical leadership to ensure project activities and deliverables are effectively planned, resourced, coordinated, and completed to the required quality and timelines.
• Lead the preparation and coordination of donor reports, workplans, program updates, and other required project and contract/award deliverables.
• Monitor project risks, implementation challenges, and compliance requirements and proactively work with project leadership and teams to identify and implement solutions.
• Coordinate procurement, consultant contracting, and other operational requirements in collaboration with finance, operations, technical teams, and external advisors as appropriate.
• Maintain strong project and grant management systems and ensure project documentation and records are complete, organized, and maintained in accordance with donor and organizational requirements.
• Support communication and coordination with donors, government counterparts, humanitarian organizations, partners, and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
• Provide oversight and guidance to Project Coordinators and other project support staff and help establish effective project management practices across country teams.
• Support the rapid mobilization and management of disaster-response operations, including deployment planning, budgeting, contracting, coordination, information management, and establishment of project management systems.
• Contribute to program design, proposal development, budgeting, lessons learned, and continuous improvement of Miyamoto’s global disaster response and preparedness programming.

As needed, this role may involve international travel and participation in country-level disaster-response deployments.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, international relations, emergency management, engineering, project management, or another relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

• Approximately 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in project, program, or contract/award management, including demonstrated responsibility for budgets, reporting, project administration, and coordination of complex projects.
• Experience managing multiple projects or workstreams across teams, locations, or stakeholders is highly desirable.
• Experience in humanitarian assistance, disaster risk management, or other rapidly changing operational environments is an advantage but not required.

Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of project and grant management processes, including work planning, budgeting and financial monitoring, reporting, procurement and contracting, compliance, and project administration.
• Experience with donor-funded programs is highly desirable, as is familiarity with U.S. Government-funded programs and 2 CFR / U.S. federal award requirements.

Skills:

• Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong budget management and financial tracking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to establish practical project management systems and work effectively with technical, financial, and operational teams.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, project management platforms, and related digital and AI tools.

Languages: Professional fluency in English required. Spanish highly preferred. Additional languages are an advantage.

Remote Work and Travel Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to work effectively across remote, multidisciplinary, and multicultural teams and across different time zones. Ability to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and adapt quickly in fast-moving environments. Willingness to travel internationally and deploy to disaster-affected locations as needed.

The salary range for this position is $120,000.00 – 150,000.00 per year. Salary offers are determined using a variety of factors, including but not limited to: years of experience, education, depth of knowledge, geographic location, and equity with internal staff.
