About the role

Responsible for all aspects of Tower Field Service (TFS) project execution including the estimate, pre-job meetings and negotiations, insuring supervision have a clear scope of work, completing the project file and documentation, and invoicing the project. Responsible for maintaining or improving the project gross margin and for overall contract execution and success of all assigned TFS projects. Managers will manage many orders at once, both domestic and international, including the most complex projects we have which may range in value up to several million dollars.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for project acceptance and for verification that the customer Purchase Order matches the quoted work scope, and that terms and conditions are negotiated to mutual satisfaction of the customer and Sulzer Chemtech.
  • Acts as primary liaison between customer and Sulzer TFS. Manages overall project scheduling.
  • Assesses the impact of change requests and revises the project schedule and price as appropriate. Determines the impact created by change requests and communicates information to the customer and all effected internal individuals.
  • Responsible for daily communications and formal project reviews with the customer, internal management, informing them of milestones, problems, situations which increase the risk on a project, corrective actions, and results. Provides direction to the various functional areas within the organization on their individual contribution within the order’s scope of supply, schedule, and budget.
  • Responsible for maximizing order gross margin through change orders/adders and ensuring that all opportunities are taken to achieve cost reductions for Sulzer TFS.
  • Conducts gross margin reviews to explain deviations from planned gross margin, actual versus estimated cost information, change orders, problems, corrective actions, and results. Ensures order is closed in the computer in a timely manner, and that all appropriate invoicing is sent to customer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Seven years of project management experience in this similar engineered product manufacturing operation.
  • Very strong customer service attitude and good negotiating skills are essential.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, for developing and implementing solutions to problems with assigned projects is important.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills as required in communicating with personnel in other departments, overseeing the results of their work activities, and accomplishing desired results through others.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills are critical, as required to meet with customers, relay project status or change information, and maintain a professional image that reflects positively on the organization.
  • Strong computer skills, as required in working with word processing, database and spreadsheet applications. The ability to successfully use MS Project or other similar project management software is essential.
  • Knowledge of contract management requirements including familiarity with terms and conditions of sale is important.
  • Cost management and general business management knowledge to maximize efficient completion of assigned projects.
  • Ability to read and correctly interpret engineering tower and internals drawings.

TRAVEL: This position requires occasional business travel. Larger projects may require Managers to be on site for the entire turnaround duration (which vary in length from one to several weeks), including working seven days a week and often over 12 hours a day. Some international travel may be required, and employees will be required to maintain a valid passport and obtain work visas as required.
