Role overview:

The Project Manager will lead the day-to-day management and control of assigned ESCS Phase 2 workstreams or capability areas, ensuring delivery remains aligned to the integrated programme plan, approved budget, resource profile and governance requirements. Working under the direction of the ESCS Programme Lead or Programme Manager, the role will provide clear ownership of planning, finances, resources, risks, dependencies, suppliers and stakeholder reporting for the assigned scope.

The role you will play:

  • Own delivery management for one or more defined ESCS workstreams, capability teams or cross-cutting delivery areas.
  • Convert programme objectives into controlled workstream plans, forecasts, actions and measurable outcomes.
  • Provide accurate delivery, financial and resource information into the integrated ESCS programme position.
  • Work alongside Scrum Masters and technical leads, with the Project Manager owning project control while Scrum Masters focus on agile team effectiveness and delivery flow.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and control detailed workstream plans, milestones, dependencies, assumptions and acceptance activities.
  • Manage assigned scope, change, risks, issues, opportunities, actions and decisions, escalating material matters through programme governance.
  • Own the workstream financial position, including budget tracking, forecast updates, actuals review, variance analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain resource demand, capacity and allocation forecasts; identify gaps and support recruitment, onboarding and mobilisation.
  • Coordinate engineers, analysts, testers, suppliers and other contributors to ensure clear ownership and timely delivery of outputs.
  • Prepare concise evidence-based updates for programme governance, including progress, forecast, financial position, resource position, risks and decisions required.
  • Manage cross-team and external dependencies and ensure they are reflected in the integrated programme plan.
  • Support supplier planning, deliverable tracking, commercial inputs and acceptance evidence for assigned scope.
  • Work with the Chief Engineer and technical leads to ensure technical dependencies, estimates and assurance activities are incorporated into plans.
  • Work with Scrum Masters to align sprint or iteration delivery with milestones, dependencies, governance commitments and release objectives.
  • Maintain complete, current and auditable project records, including plans, RAID, forecasts, decisions, actions and approvals.
  • Support benefits tracking, transition readiness, service acceptance and lessons learned for assigned capabilities.

Required experience:

  • Project management responsibility for a technology-enabled change project or a substantial workstream within a larger programme.
  • Demonstrable experience managing plans, finances, resources, risks, issues, dependencies and governance information.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and holding delivery owners to account for agreed outputs.
  • Experience producing clear status, forecast and decision information for senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an agile or hybrid environment and aligning iterative team delivery with project milestones and controls.
  • Experience identifying delivery variances and implementing proportionate recovery actions.

Desired experience:

  • Enterprise SaaS, ERP, procurement, supply chain or systems integration delivery.
  • Multi-team or multi-supplier technology programmes.
  • Recruitment, mobilisation and resource ramp-up for a significant delivery organisation.
  • Cloud, data, application integration or digital transformation projects.
  • Public sector, defence or security-conscious delivery environments.
  • APM, PRINCE2, PMQ, SAFe or equivalent project management accreditation.

Pay Range:

£58,400.00-£74,900.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
