Hello Visionary!

We empower our people to stay resilient and relevant in a constantly changing world. We’re looking for people who are always searching for creative ways to grow and learn. People who want to make a real impact, now and in the future. Does that sound like you? Then it seems like you’d make an outstanding addition to our vibrant team. Siemens Mobility is an independent run company of Siemens AG. Its core business includes rail vehicles, rail automation and electrification solutions, turnkey systems, intelligent road traffic technology and related services. In Mobility, we help our customers meet the need for hard-working mobility solutions. We’re making the lives of people who travel easier and more enjoyable while constantly developing new, intelligent mobility solutions!

We are looking for Project Manager

Project Manager for Signalling Projects Main line and Metro: You will own the transition from mobilized project → accelerated execution → commissioning readiness, ensuring that projects move with speed while protecting quality, margin, cash and customer relationships.

You’ll make a difference by

  • Conceptualize, design, develop, validate, and smooth introduction of power electronic traction and auxiliary converters/inverters for rail application as per customer specification
  • Execution: Drive relentless progress across BOQ, site productivity, manpower, materials, subcontractors, costs and milestones.
  • Final-leg commissioning: Railway testing windows, possessions, interfaces and pre-commissioning activities to ensure projects are genuinely ready for commissioning.
  • The person we are looking for must be equally comfortable on a project site, in a commercial review, with senior Railway officials, and in a BU-level portfolio review.
  • Portfolio Execution- Own execution performance across multiple signalling EPC/BOQ projects running simultaneously across Indian Railway zones.
  • Drive BOQ execution against committed project schedules.
  • Establish execution priorities across projects and remove bottlenecks quickly.
  • Monitor daily productivity, site deployment and physical progress.
  • Ensure open fronts, residual works and punch-list items are systematically closed.
  • Identify execution risks early and drive corrective action before they become schedule or commercial issues.
  • Ensure projects are handed over to the Closure phase only when execution obligations are genuinely complete.
  • Project Commercials & P&L- Execution is where project margins are either protected or lost.
  • You will therefore carry strong commercial ownership for the portfolio, including Project-level P&L and margin performance.
  • Budget adherence and cost deviation control.
  • Subcontractor commercial performance.
  • BOQ and quantity variance management.
  • Variation Orders and scope changes.
  • Claims preservation and commercial opportunities.
  • Cost optimisation through procurement, subcontractor and manpower productivity.
  • Close coordination with Finance, Procurement and Contracts.
  • You will be expected to understand not just whether a project is progressing, but whether it is progressing profitably.
  • Commissioning Readiness- A major part of this role is ensuring that commissioning does not become a last-minute event.
  • You will owe the orchestration of the final leg of each project, including Design and engineering readiness.
  • Material availability- Indoor and outdoor readiness.
  • Interface dependency closure.
  • Installation and testing availability.
  • Specialist team mobilization.
  • Railway testing and possession windows.
  • Pre-commissioning and integrated testing planning.
  • You will work closely with all stakeholders and ensure their availability is secured well ahead of commissioning requirements.
  • Commissioning should be planned months in advance — not managed as a crisis in the final week.
  • Railway & Customer Management
  • You will be an escalation point for key customers and stakeholders from the projects you drive.
  • This includes working with: Indian Railways, CAO/CSTE offices, RITES/RVNL/IRCON/RAILTEL, Private infrastructure clients, Senior project and station authorities
  • You will manage critical dependencies, escalations, formal correspondence and customer commitments while building relationships that enable faster project execution.
  • The role requires the ability to navigate complex institutional environments while maintaining commercial discipline and delivery accountability.
  • Engineering, Quality, EHS & Compliance
  • You will provide execution-level engineering leadership without becoming a design office function.
  • Drive timely resolution of design queries.
  • Manage engineering changes emerging during execution with discussion with Execution team.
  • Ensure changes affecting scope are appropriately routed commercially.
  • Maintain Railway and RDSO compliance.
  • Drive QA/QC standards across projects.
  • Ensure non-conformances and audit observations are closed within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain strong safety standards across the portfolio.
  • Safety is non-negotiable, and this role carries site safety reviews fortnightly.
  • Materials, Subcontractors & Site Productivity
  • You will ensure that execution teams have what they need to deliver.
  • This includes ownership of: Material availability and forward planning.
  • Procurement coordination.
  • Site inventory discipline.
  • Vendor and subcontractor performance.
  • Subcontractor manpower deployment.
  • Site facilities and infrastructure.
  • Productivity improvement.
  • Rationalization of consistently underperforming partners.
  • You will be expected to identify the difference between a genuine external constraint and an execution-management problem in projects — and act accordingly.
  • Cash & Working Capital- The role extends beyond physical project completion.
  • You will work closely with Commercial Project Manager to drive: Milestone billing.
  • WIP and unbilled revenue conversion.
  • Receivables.
  • Collections.
  • Debtor ageing.
  • Bank Guarantee and retention release.
  • Labor license compliance required for the Projects.
  • Client-side documentation required for cash conversion.
  • The objective is to ensure that execution converts into revenue, and revenue converts into cash.
  • What Success Looks Like
  • In this role, success will be visible in the project portfolio: Projects move faster.
  • BOQs get cleared.
  • Commissioning dates are predictable.
  • Other OEM, material procurements and Railway dependencies are planned.
  • Margins are protected.
  • Cash gets collected.
  • Customers trust the execution team.
  • Safety and quality remain uncompromised.
  • And the organization becomes stronger with every project delivered.

Desired Skills:

  • 7–10 years of experience in railway BOQ/EPC / railway signaling projects/Metro.
  • Significant hands-on experience across execution as well as commissioning.
  • Proven experience in leading projects.
  • Experience delivering signaling / Electronic Interlocking projects end-to-end.
  • Strong understanding of Indian Railway project execution and stakeholder ecosystem.
  • Experience working with signaling OEMs and specialist commissioning teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in project P&L / commercial ownership.
  • Strong subcontractor management and negotiation experience.
  • Strong understanding of BOQ, Variation Orders, claims, retention, Bank Guarantees and project commercials.
  • Experience managing senior Railway and client stakeholders.
  • B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Signal & Telecom Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Signaling specialization preferred.
  • IPMA or similar certification is preferred.
  • This role is suited to a leader/project Manager who: Thinks in portfolios, not individual projects.
  • Is highly execution-oriented and comfortable operating close to the ground.
  • Use data and dashboards to drive decisions rather than relying on anecdotal updates.
  • Escalates early rather than allowing issues to age.
  • Can move seamlessly between technical, commercial and operational conversations.
  • Understands that commissioning is an orchestration problem, not merely a testing activity.
  • Can challenge project teams while building their capability.
  • Has the commercial maturity to protect EBITDA while delivering customer commitment.
  • Is comfortable taking difficult calls on subcontractors, manpower, costs and priorities.
