The key responsibility of a Grade 5 Project Manager is to ensure successful delivery on time and within scope and budget of client projects at Abzena. As part of their normal employment, the PM will collaborate with the Technical Operations, Program Management, Proposals, Finance, Accounting and Business Development teams to achieve successful project delivery for our global client base.

Responsibilities

  • You will manage a significant portfolio of projects. Project activities may be based at Abzena’s Cambridge site but the role will also involve communication with, co-ordination of and responsibility for activities at Abzena’s US sites
  • Projects that are integrated across Abzena sites or projects whereby the client is a non-UK company will require regular calls often across time zones
  • You will be responsible for the accurate and timely entry and maintenance of project records into Abzena’s IFS ERP system and supporting systems
  • You will communicate with Business Development / Sales team to understand incoming projects’ scope, priority and timings
  • You will assemble and manage cross-functional delivery teams across the lifetime of the projects in your portfolio
  • You will plan, run, document and follow up on internal and external Kick-Off Meetings, Joint Team (Technical) meetings and Project Status Updates
  • You will share information, data and decisions between Abzena and client teams in a timely and accurate manner and ensure actions captured and actuated
  • You will engage with internal and external stakeholders advising of changes or updates to critical project information such as timelines, materials management and costs
  • You will create amendments to project scope in collaboration with technical, proposals and sales teams, ensuring agreement of scope with client
  • You will ensure full financial alignment / invoicing vs deliverables is carried out
  • You will close out projects / stages and ensure that the client is supported with their program’s progression
  • You will interact with the Global and Cambridge Site Leadership to report progress on your project portfolio
  • You will work with the Global and Cambridge Site Leadership to develop and implement PM best practice for the organisation
  • You will perform other relevant duties as assigned and aligned with the overall Project Management function and responsibilities within Abzena

Qualifications

  • Life Sciences degree to MSc level or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years project management experience, preferably within a contract science or pharmaceutical/biotechnology setting
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, with aptitude to learn new software and systems. Full training will be provided on in-house software applications
  • Specialised Project Management training or certification a strong advantage
  • Experience working in any role in a drug development or scientific service sector an advantage
  • Experience with enterprise, resource, planning (ERP) platforms an strong advantage
  • Must have excellent time management, communication and organizational skills
  • Must be comfortable directing / assigning activities within a multi-specialised matrix team, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of projects
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable.
