JOB PURPOSES:The Project Manager takes on the primary responsibility for interacting with internal resources, our customers, and external 3rd parties to ensure the successful implementation of GT Nexus solutions. This entails the Project Manager collaboratively working with the customer to manage all project resources to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of contracted solutions. This position requires expertise in project management and excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate has a background in international logistics, B-2-B integrations, and cloud-based software implementations. The candidate should also be comfortable interacting with customers, leading global remote teams, and driving business process as well as technical work streams.
Scope of Work and Responsibilities:
Project managers may work on multiple projects at once and should be comfortable juggling and prioritizing a variety of tasks on each project. Project Managers may work on Onshore-Offshore Model, as an Offshore PM.
A Typical Day in the Life Includes:
Management
- Managing resources against explicit project deliverables (driving day-to-day implementation work, focusing the team on deliverables and meeting deadlines, and working directly with customer end users and internal groups for the successful implementation)
- Conducting weekly status meetings between both the customer and the Implementation teams as well as monthly project reviews with internal management and key executive stakeholders at the customer
- Working closely with other internal groups (collaborate with Product Managers to define future functionality and prioritize enhancements, collaborate with Engineering to support feature development and fixes, and support the Sales team to ensure that customers are fully comfortable with the implementation methodology)
- Execution of effective change management process to ensure adherence to agreed upon project scope as well as to document and gain formal approval for change requests affecting project scope, timeline, and budget
- Track the desired value areas of the solution against the implementation plan
- Work closely with the Onshore PM in managing the customer expectations
Administration
· Developing and managing the Project Plan
· Proactive management of project budget vs. actual inclusive of project resource hours and expenses
- Ensuring that the company’s best practice methodology for implementation process and deliverables is utilized
- Effective tracking and reporting of project activities
- Hands-on work in delivering project tasks ranging from system configuration, business process documentation, training documentation and rollout, or other necessary project activities as required to deliver the solutions
- As on Offshore PM, maintain the project artifacts (Project Plan, Budget, Financials, Status Reports, Metrics)
Communication
- Understanding and managing customer expectations (Scope)
- Conducting internal and external meetings to brief on project status, action items, issues and risks
- Communicating with team members on required work streams to be completed
Basic Qualifications:
B. Tech or any graduate in Computer Science from a reputed University.
PMP certification is a plus
YEARS OF RELEVENT WORKING EXPERIENCE:8 to 14 years
Skills AND Job Competencies required:
· Previous project management experience (3-4 years) – proven ability to drive a solution from start to finish (project management certifications are a plus)
· Existing detailed knowledge of supply chain & transportation business processes are desired
· Implementation experiences with Supply Chain Logistics software a plus
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Able to facilitate compromise in balancing process change and technical change to deliver a working solution to customers
· Ability to create/maintain project plans in Microsoft Project is a must
· Working knowledge of business-to-business electronic communications (EDI, XML, etc.)
· Ability to create quality deliverables utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
· Passion for contributing to a growing business and fostering a team atmosphere
· Bachelor's degree, international business focus desirable. Previous experience in implementations roles at a software company in the supply chain/transportation space is ideal
