Job Description

Project ManagerFull-time | Sydney, NSW | Office-Based / On-Site During Construction

At JET Charge, our mission is clear – to provide EV charging at no cost, with no emissions. We’re building Australia’s electrified future by developing the infrastructure and technology that make clean transport accessible to everyone. Through innovation in charging, grid, and energy management systems, we’re breaking down barriers to electrification and driving a sustainable, equitable, and Australian-made transition.

The Role

The Project Manager is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of a major, high-voltage connected electrification project – on budget, on program, and to the quality standards expected by JET Charge and its clients.

This is a hands-on role delivering complex EV charging and electrical infrastructure under a Principal Contractor model, spanning high-voltage and low-voltage electrical works, civil and structural works, and the supply, installation and commissioning of a large-scale charging system within a live, operational site.

The role is office-based through the design, planning and procurement phases, transitioning to a primarily on-site presence once construction begins, where you will coordinate contractors and drive safe, efficient delivery on the ground.

You will be the primary interface with the client during delivery and are responsible for the commercial outcome of the project. You will lead a project team, coordinate contractors and suppliers, manage the program and scope, and drive safe, efficient execution from detailed design through procurement, construction, energisation, commissioning and handover.

This role suits a delivery-proven project manager with genuine electrical and civil construction experience who is ready to own a technically demanding infrastructure project from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Ownership

  • Identify and process variations at margin-positive rates.

Program & Schedule

  • Plan and sequence multiple phases of work, coordinating delivery around the continued operation of a live site.
  • Monitor project progress, risks and key milestones, escalating issues without delay so clients and management are never surprised.

Scope & Contractor Management

  • Validate scope against the client contract at initiation and maintain contract administration records.
  • Manage changes to scope formally, including variations, NCRs and EOTs.

Technical Scope

  • Manage contracted high-voltage electrical works including cabling, substations, switchboards, protective earthing, energisation and commissioning.
  • Manage contracted low-voltage electrical works including reticulation, charging equipment installation, lighting, communications/control and commissioning.
  • Manage contracted civil works including bulk excavation, footings, cable pits, etc
  • Review drawings, hardware requirements and installation methods; identify constructability challenges and WHS considerations early.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client during delivery, providing regular, proactive updates on progress, timelines and issues.
  • Manage interfaces with network operators, accredited service providers, authorities and OEM partners, and build positive long-term relationships.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide clear direction and role clarity to the project team.
  • Actively coach the Project Coordinators and Administrators supporting the project, and set the behavioural standard for the team.

Commissioning, Handover & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee system energisation, certification, integration testing and the operational monitoring period.
  • Ensure all testing, verification and as-built evidence is captured correctly, and deliver an accurate, complete handover documentation pack to the client.

Workplace Health & Safety

  • Ensure all WHS obligations are met and prioritise safety at all times, including management of high-voltage and live-site risks.
  • Ensure contractors comply with JET Charge’s ISO 45001-certified HSEQ requirements.
