Project Manager
• Full Time Fixed Term Opportunity | 24 months

Coal Services is looking for an experienced Project Manager to deliver successful projects on behalf of Coal Mines Insurance (CMI) and, where required, the broader Coal Services transformation portfolio, while meeting schedule, budget and quality requirements in accordance with the approved governance and project management framework. This position will be responsible for delivering complex, cross-functional projects, ensuring clear alignment to business goals and strategic priorities.
About the role:
This position works closely with the Program Manager and key stakeholders to deliver projects on behalf of Coal Mines Insurance (CMI) and, where required, the broader Coal Services transformation portfolio. This is a delivery role, which plans, coordinates and delivers projects to ensure business requirements are met within agreed timeframes, budgets and quality standards.
The Project Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy, managing multiple workstreams concurrently while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring alignment with business goals and strategic priorities. The ability to drive outcomes, manage competing priorities, and deliver tangible business value is essential to succeed in this role.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
• Project Planning & Delivery – Develop and maintain project plans, including milestones, resource requirements, budgets, schedules and risk profiles. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and to agreed quality standards.
• Governance & Reporting – Adhere to the Coal Services project management framework and governance requirements. Prepare project reports, maintain project registers and support PMO reporting cycles and governance forums.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication – Build strong relationships and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders.
• Project Delivery & Coordination – Coordinate internal and external resources, manage multiple workstreams and collaborate with stakeholders to successfully deliver project outcomes and business benefits.
• Risk, Issue & Dependency Management – Proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies across the program ensuring Project Sponsors and the Project Management Office are advised of any potential issues or risks.
About you:
Demonstrated Results
• A track record of successfully complex projects on time, within budget and aligned to business objectives.
• Experience managing project risks, issues and dependencies while maintaining delivery momentum.
• Experience supporting business change and driving successful project outcomes.
Experience & Background
• Relevant tertiary qualifications
• Experience managing multiple project managers, vendors, and cross functional teams.
• Strong background in governance, financial management, and program reporting.
• Minimum 5–8 years' experience delivering complex, multi-workstream projects.
• Demonstrated experience working within complex, matrix or enterprise environments.
• Experience delivering transformation, process improvement, digital or system change projects.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and external vendors.
• Insurance industry experience is essential. Workers Compensation or broader financial services experience will be highly regarded.
