We're looking for a civil Project Manager who knows how to get projects delivered properly. The type of person who can walk onto a site, build confidence with crews, protect margins, manage clients, and keep projects moving.
Thread Recruitment is proud to be supporting an established and growing ISO-accredited civil construction contractor seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team in Southeast Queensland.
This is a long-term opportunity for someone who backs themselves, values autonomy, and wants the authority to make decisions and drive outcomes.
About the Role
Our client delivers civil construction projects across subdivisions, road upgrades, local government infrastructure, environmental works, and renewable energy.
Known for quality delivery and practical solutions, they've built a strong reputation and continue to secure quality work across Southeast Queensland.
As Project Manager, you'll oversee multiple projects, balancing commercial performance, client relationships, team leadership, and project delivery while working closely with senior leadership.
What You'll Be Doing
This isn't a sit behind a desk all day type of role.
If you're tired of unnecessary layers, endless meetings, and not having the authority to make decisions, this is your opportunity to take ownership, back your judgement, and make your mark.
Your responsibilities include:
Managing multiple civil construction projects from planning through to completion.
Driving project profitability through forecasting, cost control, claims, and commercial management.
Leading Site Supervisors, subcontractors, and project teams.
Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Identifying opportunities for repeat business and additional work.
Contributing to tender reviews, estimating, and project planning activities.
Overseeing quality, compliance, documentation, and project closeout requirements.
Managing project risks and maintaining strong safety outcomes across all sites.
End-to-end delivery of multiple civil projects: safety, program, budget, spec
Tendering, estimating and reviews — building tender packages, not rubber-stamping numbers.
Choosing and executing the right delivery method for each job
QA, compliance, documentation and closeout to the standard the business is known for
Procurement of plant, materials, subbies and resources
Picking the right delivery method for each job, and solving the problems that don't have a textbook answer.
Who You Are
You're an experienced civil Project Manager who understands that successful projects require strong leadership in the field, trusted client relationships, and sound commercial decision-making behind the scenes.
You'll ideally bring:
Proven experience delivering civil construction projects in a Project Manager, Senior Project Engineer, or similar leadership role.
Strong commercial capability across budgeting, forecasting, claims, variations, and cost control.
Experience delivering subdivisions, roadworks, earthworks, civil infrastructure, utilities, or similar projects.
The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
A proactive, accountable, and solutions-focused approach.
The confidence to make decisions, solve problems, and drive outcomes.
Leadership that holds up in the field and in the boardroom.
Delivery from the contractor side — you've run civil projects as the builder, not from the client or consultant chair.
Knowledgeable on TMR standards
Picking the right delivery method for each job, and solving the problems that don't have a textbook answer.
Why This Opportunity?
Diverse projects across subdivisions, road upgrades, council infrastructure, environmental, and renewable energy sectors.
A balance of project delivery, commercial management, tendering, and business growth responsibilities.
An established and reputable civil contractor with a strong pipeline of work, where your contribution is visible, recognised, and valued.
Long-term opportunity to grow with a business that continues to invest in its people and projects.
Competitive salary package of $170,000 - $200,000 + Super.
