Job Description

Downer is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of asphalt and surfacing projects. Based out of Brendale, you will manage project operations end-to-end while contributing to business growth, tendering, and customer relationship development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage end-to-end delivery of asphalt and surfacing projects, ensuring outcomes meet time, cost, quality, and safety objectives.
• Coordinate resources including labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors across multiple projects.
• Contribute to pricing, tendering, and contract negotiations to support business growth.
• Build, maintain, and grow strong client relationships to drive repeat business opportunities.
• Monitor project performance, manage risks, and resolve issues to ensure successful delivery.
• Lead and develop project teams, providing coaching, direction, and performance feedback.
• Promote and lead a strong Zero Harm safety culture across all project activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and operational best practice across the business.

ABOUT YOU

• Proven experience in project or operations management within civil, road, or surfacing environments.
• Certificate in Project Management and/or Civil Engineering (preferred).
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in tendering, budgeting, and cost control.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships.
• Experience leading teams and driving performance across multiple projects.
• Sound knowledge of safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Lead a safety‑focused culture that aligns with Zero Harm objectives and meets all sustainability, safety, and compliance targets.
