Project Manager

A growing custom manufacturing organization in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Project Manager to oversee engineered equipment projects from order receipt through final delivery and payment. This role offers a competitive salary of $90,000–$130,000 depending on experience.

This Project Manager position is highly visible and works closely with production, quality, engineering, purchasing, and customer-facing teams to ensure projects are executed successfully. The ideal candidate has a strong manufacturing background, understands how products move through a shop environment, and has a proven ability to drive accountability, visibility, and execution across multiple departments.

This is an in-person, on-site role in Buffalo, NY (Tonawanda area).

Responsibilities

  • Own projects from order receipt through manufacturing, delivery, installation support, and project closeout
  • Develop and maintain project schedules while ensuring alignment across engineering, purchasing, production, quality, and customer stakeholders
  • Lead weekly project review meetings and drive accountability for deliverables, action items, and timelines
  • Serve as the primary liaison between customers and internal teams
  • Identify risks, bottlenecks, and resource constraints and proactively implement corrective actions
  • Support contract review, project kickoff, and order acceptance activities
  • Initiate milestone billing and support project financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and cost performance
  • Maintain project trackers, issue logs, KPI reporting, and project documentation
  • Drive project closeout activities, lessons learned discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work closely with production teams to support successful project execution and problem resolution
  • Help create structure, visibility, and accountability across project execution activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing project management, engineering project management, operations leadership, or related roles
  • Experience managing custom equipment, engineered-to-order products, industrial equipment, machinery, fabrication, or manufacturing projects strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with production, quality, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, manufacturing documentation, and technical specifications
  • Experience working within ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or related operational improvement experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • oProven ability to drive accountability and execution in a manufacturing environment
