Job Description

Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a talented Project Manager for its Hypersonics portfolio. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The selected candidate will support the Common Hypersonic Glide Body (CHGB) program as a deputy to the program manager. The CHGB is the Army’s #1 priority for strategic weapons capability for long-range precision fires and will counter and gain a lead on our adversaries' technological advances in this field, come join us in this exciting, cutting-edge field.

This position demands a broad skill set, including experience in project management, risk management, stakeholder communication, and earned value management, as well as a technical background. The multi-dimensional nature of these responsibilities is crucial for fulfilling contractual obligations and achieving strategic objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the Program Manager in directing day‑to‑day program operations, ensuring production schedules, mission deliverables, and performance standards are consistently met.

  • Oversee developmental activities in support of program risk reduction

  • Assist in managing cost, schedule, performance, and risk across the contract, including review and approval of Earned Value Management (EVM) baseline changes.

  • Monitor task progress, identify risks/issues, and drive timely resolution of blockers

  • Facilitate internal and external meetings as needed

  • Prepare and deliver status reports, briefings, and customer-facing updates.

  • In the absence of the PM, represent the program in customer engagements as needed, communicating status, risks, and mitigation strategies.

  • Support development of program reviews, roadmaps, staffing plans, and other deliverables.

  • Identify, assess, and support mitigation of program risks

  • Lead coordination and delivery of program deliverables/CDRLs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • 8+ years of program or project management experience in a technical or engineering environment.

  • Proven success supporting or managing complex, multi‑disciplinary programs.

  • Strong understanding of engineering lifecycle processes (systems engineering, , hardware integration and production).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage cost, schedule, and performance in dynamic environments.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.

  • Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification or equivalent.

  • Experience supporting complex defense programs, particularly with the U.S. Army or Navy

  • Prior experience supporting hardware prototype and production programs

Pay Range:

Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
