Job Description

Mō te tūranga | About the role

We’re after an experienced Project Manager to take the reins on major horizontal civil infrastructure projects across Tāmaki Makaurau. You’ll have full responsibility for delivering significant roading improvements, rail interfaces, level crossings and airside pavement renewals, as well as other complex, transport‑focused and services‑heavy work.

You’ll be steering large infrastructure projects typically in the $20m to $100m range – multi‑year programmes with plenty of interfaces and visibility right across the region. These are the jobs people see and experience every time they’re on the network.

Day to day, you’ll be right in the thick of it in live, high‑stakes environments, sequencing works around traffic, rail and airport activity while keeping safety, programme and cost firmly on track. It’s a chance to lock into long‑term projects and help shape the infrastructure communities rely on every day.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of large‑scale civil and transport infrastructure projects, including roading corridors, level crossings and pavement renewals.

  • Manage complex staging and interfaces around live traffic, rail and airside operations, minimising disruption while maintaining safety and quality.

  • Build and mentor strong site teams, ensuring everyone understands the plan, their role and the standards expected.

  • Work closely with clients, designers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to coordinate design changes, utilities, consents and access.

  • Drive programme and cost performance, identifying risks early and implementing practical mitigation strategies.

  • Champion Fulton Hogan’s safety, quality and Good Work culture across all sites under your watch.

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with

  • 10+ years’ project delivery experience in civil infrastructure – such as roading, pavements, bridges, rail interfaces or airports.

  • A relevant engineering or construction‑related qualification (Washington Accord or equivalent is preferred), or extensive proven experience in similar roles.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams on high‑value jobs with tight timeframes and multiple moving parts.

  • Strong delegation skills – able to empower others while staying close enough to support, coach and “get amongst it” when needed.

  • Proven stakeholder and client management experience in complex, operational environments (e.g. transport authorities, rail, aviation).

  • A track record of driving innovation and continuous improvement in construction methods, staging and programme management.

  • A values‑driven approach to safety, people and performance, with the drive and ambition to keep moving your career forward.
