Job Description

The Civil Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading civil construction projects from conception to completion. This role involves managing all aspects of project delivery, including scheduling, budgeting, and interfacing with both clients and construction teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil engineering projects, with a strong focus on efficiency, quality, and safety.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of civil construction projects, including infrastructure development, roads, bridges, and other structures.
  • Manage project budgets and financial plans, ensuring projects are completed within cost constraints.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other construction and building specialists to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
  • Monitor compliance with building and safety regulations, and ensure all required permits and licenses are obtained.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status, daily field reports, and progress meetings.
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with civil construction projects, implementing risk mitigation measures.
  • Oversee the quality control of construction works, ensuring that materials and workmanship meet the specifications and standards.
  • Perform any other tasks, as requested.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) as a Civil Project Manager or a similar role in civil construction projects.
  • Proficiency with project management software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, Revit).
  • PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and precision.

Work Environment: The work typically takes place in both an office environment and on construction sites. The Civil Project Manager must be prepared for travel to and from these sites as needed and be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Physical Demands: The physical demands include walking, standing for long periods, and occasionally lifting heavy materials. The role requires frequent visits to construction sites, where the manager will inspect the work progress and resolve on-site issues. The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or confined spaces, climb ladders, and visually inspect small defects is crucial.
