About the role

Service Stream’s Utilities division is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Brisbane team on a full-time, permanent basis. The Project Manager takes strong personal ownership of small projects or subsets of larger projects through stages of the project management life-cycle including safely and profitably delivering and closing out projects in accordance with Service Stream’s project management systems. In doing so, the Project Manager consults and coordinates with other key personnel in the efficient management of resources and mitigation of risks.

Key responsibilities

  • Take strong personal ownership of projects including program backlog, including maintenance activities, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Continuously assess, refine, prioritise, and schedule backlog items based on operational risk, asset condition, client needs, and resource availability.
  • Work closely with asset owners, field teams, and planning groups to translate high-level priorities into actionable, scheduled works.
  • Engage subcontractors to delivery package of works or small projects
  • Review work scopes, service agreements, and operational requirements to ensure clarity, feasibility, and alignment with program objectives.
  • Develop and maintain program-level delivery plans including scheduling, forecasting, resourcing, and budget allocation for routine and backlog maintenance.
  • Coordinate and prepare all pre-mobilisation requirements (HSEQ, permits, procurement, contracting, and resourcing) to ensure smooth commencement of works.
  • Establish cross-functional delivery teams, clarify responsibilities, and ensure coordinated mobilisation across multiple work packages.

Skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent (advantageous)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within Maintenance delivery contracts;
  • Previous experience within the relevant and local utilities environment (advantageous).
  • Manage multiple stakeholders (client, community, rail authority, road authority, council, etc.)
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local building codes and safety laws;
  • Advanced math skills and the ability to understand "abstract" principles behind math and physics;
