Purpose of the role

Focused on delivering individual projects, ensuring completion within scope, time, and budget with a more immediate focus.

Accountabilities

  • Scope Management: Manages a single project with specific, defined objectives, deadlines, and deliverables. Their focus is on completing the project on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Strategic Focus: Operates more tactically, focusing on day-to-day management of resources, schedules, and deliverables for their individual project.
  • Time Horizon: Works with a shorter, more defined timeframe as projects have a set beginning and end.
  • Stakeholder Management: Primarily manages stakeholders related to their specific project, ensuring communication and expectations are clear for the project’s deliverables.
  • Risk and Issue Management: Focuses on risks and issues specific to their project and works to mitigate them within the project’s scope.
  • Resource Management: Manages resources for their individual project, ensuring that the project team has the necessary skills, tools, and time to complete the work.
  • Financial Management: Focuses on managing the budget of their specific project, ensuring it is completed within the financial constraints.
  • Metrics: Measures success based on the timely completion of project deliverables within scope, time, and budget.
  • Change Management: Manages changes that directly impact their specific project, including scope changes, timelines, or resource allocation adjustments.

Assistant Vice President Expectations

  • To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.
  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes

  • OR for an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will identify new directions for assignments and/ or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.

Join us at Barclays as a Project Manager. You will be working on Transaction Monitoring technology projects within Financial Crime Technology that support the organisation’s strategic, regulatory, and operational objectives. The role ensures that all Transaction Monotoring technology changes are delivered on time, within budget, in control, and in compliance with regulatory expectations, model governance standards, and internal policies and procedures. The Technical Project Manager serves as a key interface across engineering, AML Operations, data teams, architecture, and risk functions, ensuring safe, well‑governed, and audit‑ready delivery.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager delivering technology change within a Transaction Monitoring or wider Financial Crime/AML environment.

  • Strong understanding of data sourcing, data quality, and analytics within Financial Crime Technology.

  • Experience managing delivery in a regulated environment with exposure to regulatory, audit, and compliance‑driven initiatives.

  • Familiarity with model governance, control frameworks, and technology change processes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience managing cross‑functional project teams spanning engineering, data, operations, and compliance.

  • Agile delivery experience.

  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.

This role is based in Glasgow
