Job Description

As a Project Manager, this role plays a key part in bringing Heathrow’s ambitions to life by collaborating with internal and external partners to deliver projects on time, on brief and within budget. The position leads a multi‑disciplinary team of subject matter experts, contractors and subcontractors, drawing on a broad range of skills to drive successful outcomes. It also ensures contracts are effectively managed and administered, and that the full benefits of each project are realised for passengers, colleagues and stakeholders

As project Manager you will lead and deliver Heathrow Infrastructure projects, ensuring integrated, sustainable and effective outcomes, with responsibility for cost, time and overall performance.

Projects span a wide range of areas, including Terminal and Satellite buildings, passenger movements within Terminals and between Satellite buildings ( Connectivity), baggage system improvement in the existing system and new capability ( Baggage) , as well as Delivery support for the programme design team.

  • Leading the planning, coordination and management of the project team to deliver an integrated, sustainable and effective solution that meets the project brief and supports benefits realisation.
  • Building strong, constructive relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring all user requirements are captured and that approvals are secured in line with programme timelines, while maintaining an understanding of relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing the end‑to‑end execution planning and management, ensuring goals, roles and deliverables are clearly defined to enable successful delivery and ensure value for money.
  • Taking responsibility for the safety of everyone involved in, or impacted by, the project.
  • Supporting other Project Managers and Senior Projects Managers with ad-hoc tasks as the Programme and Tranche prepare and progress through governance and key gateways.
  • Provide support to Associate Project Managers and Graduate Project Managers when they join to the programme / tranche.
  • Accountability for reporting project performance working closely with Commercial teams, Risk Managers, Planners, etc.
  • Experience across a range of capital and revenue projects, with a strong understanding of project management practices, including APM frameworks.
  • Demonstratable proven track record in planning and delivering complex projects within live operational environments, managing multiple stakeholder interfaces effectively.
  • Experience of delivering large‑scale projects within highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge and experience of commercial and contractual environments.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (such as membership of an appropriate institution) or can demonstrate ongoing commitment to continuous professional development.

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of HeathrowWorking arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
