We efficiently serve growers' needs and strive to provide a more profitable, sustainable, and secure future for all stakeholders.  Help us raise the expectation of what an agriculture company can be and grow your career with Nutrien.

The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of underground capital projects—from concept development through design, execution, commissioning, and closeout. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, in compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and aligned with schedule, budget, and operational readiness requirements. This position supports and works with multi-disciplinary teams (engineering, construction, maintenance, operations, procurement, safety) and manages project planning and execution within the unique constraints of potash mining, including ventilation, geotechnical conditions, hoisting/logistics limitations, equipment availability, and production integration.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead full project lifecycle from scoping and design through construction, commissioning, and closeout for underground capital projects – while following Nutrien’s project stage-gate governance process
  • Communicate with project stakeholders through the project life-cycle, from initiation through all stages of engineering, execution, and closeout to ensure projects complete their objectives for the business
  • Champion safety by integrating mine safety standards, risk controls, and contractor management into all project activities
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget, maintaining baselines and controlling changes, risks, and contingencies
  • Plan underground execution including scheduling, access/ventilation constraints, material procurement and logistics, and coordination with production
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering to ensure constructability, quality, compliance, and readiness for commissioning
  • Oversee procurement and contracts, including requisitions, contracting strategy, progress verification, and cost tracking
  • Maintain stakeholder alignment through routine communication with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HSE, and contractors
  • Deliver commissioning and handover, ensuring training, documentation, asset data, and operational acceptance are complete
  • Split between underground field work and surface offices; regular underground travel
  • Exposure to heat, humidity, dust, noise; PPE compliance required
  • Occasional travel to vendors/contractors, engineering partners, or other sites

What You'll Bring:

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; underground mining or heavy industrial experience preferred
  • 5–10 years managing capital projects in operating/brownfield environments
  • Strong skills in project planning, scheduling (P6/MS Project), cost control, and risk management
  • Experience coordinating multi-discipline engineering, contractors, and procurement processes
  • Solid understanding of mine safety regulations, underground work practices, and contractor safety management
  • Proficiency with MS Office/365 and common project controls tools; SAP experience an asset
  • Professional designations such as P.Eng. or PMP considered an advantage
  • Ability to work underground and meet all site access, medical, and safety requirements

What You'll Get:

  • Excellent Benefits – Comprehensive health, dental, pension, and wellness programs
  • Stability – We are deeply committed to our potash operations in Saskatchewan and are one of the largest employers in the province
  • Safety First – We maintain the highest safety standards to support you and your team
